1956 Ford Thunderbird Triple Black

Ford Thunderbird . First introduced in 1955, the two seat Thunderbird was Ford's response to the recently revealed Chevrolet Corvette. Dubbed as a “personal luxury car” it was designed to evoke the emotions of bespoke 1930s roadsters as well as provide modern technology and sophistication. The small size and standard V8 engine meant that the performance was strong but the focus was still more on drive comfort than outright speed. In 1957, the car underwent some small changes including larger fins, different badge placement and reworked trim. The '57 Thunderbird was also the last 2-seat Ford sports car until the 11th generation Thunderbird. Just 53k first generation Thunderbirds were made. This car is presently in a private collection and can be seen by appointment, local inspection services are also available. Initially sold with the smaller 292 cid V8, this car had the larger 312 cid V8 transplanted from a similar car at some point in its life. The engine is smooth and sounds very healthy. The overall exterior quality is very nice, with solid, even paint and chrome trim that is all intact but could use a polish. Newer whitewall tires are mounted on wheels with factory hubcaps. Prior history it was said that the exterior and interior are completely original and the car spent the first 35 years of its life in California. The interior is in excellent shape with a crack free dash and engine turned trim that looks great. The seats are stain and rip free and have great padding. The factory hardtop fits well and is in the same condition as the rest of the car. The car is well equipped and features the factory spare tire, 14in wheels with whitewall tires, fenders skirts, AM radio and more. Power brakes stop the car with confidence and it drives very well.Just 15,631 units were built in 1956.A rare and gorgeous car with great options that is in great condition.
