1930 Ford Model A

Time to move on to something new... Up for sale 1930 Model A Ford chopped top hotrod. I have owned this car since September 2015. Car only has 2,000 miles since being built. I did not build this car but am familiar with what has been done and will try to describe it the best I can. If you have questions or want to see specific photos please ask. All pictures and videos were taken on 5/2/2020. Car is licensed and insured and I drove it to work three times this week. My starting price of $20K is fair for a car of this quality. I will not sell for less and I am not looking for trades. Car is located in Roseville (Sacramento) and you are welcome to come by and inspect. I will help with shipping. I did buy this car sight unseen from Texas and I was happy.
***Body and paint. Body is steel and top is chopped about 5". The roof was filled, probably with a station wagon roof, nicely done looks great. Doors shut really nice. Firewall is steel and was recessed for motor and is painted gloss white. Radiator shell is a 1932 steel reproduction. Aprons and steps are steel. Front and rear fenders are fiberglass. There is some spider webbing in the paint on the front fenders see pictures. Looks nice and gets a lot of comments every time I drive it. It is painted satin black it does have some imperfections. Good low maintenance driver quality paint. Body is straight and chop appears to be well done. If you wanted to put the car into shiny paint it wouldn't take a ton of work to do so.
***Motor and Transmission. SBC - small block chevy. I believe it is a 305 cubic inch motor. It has a 700R4 Overdrive transmission. Motor runs fine, it smokes a little at startup and mileage is unknown. It is stock V8 with a lot of cool dress up parts. It is NOT a high power, big HP motor. Car is light and goes good, it cruises at 70mph at low RPM's. Has Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley edurashine 670 cfm carb, Sanderson coated headers, aluminum finned valve covers, hi torque starter, chrome oil pan, Lokar shifter, Derale cooling trans pan, finned aluminum trans cooler. I was going to swap out with a 383 and bolt on all the goodies it already has but never got around to it.
***Chassis is well built and has been boxed and reinforced. It is still traditional front straight axle 4-link set up in front. Rear in is Ford 8" with an open differential and highway gears of unknown ratio. Chrome triangulated 4 link. QA1 coil over shocks on rear. Goodyear Assurance radials are like new. 4 wheel disc brakes non-power. Master cylinder is under floor boards. Car stops well but disc brakes without a power booster requires a strong leg! Gas tank is a saddle tank, there are supposed to be 2 but the previous owner damaged the one on the passenger side. He removed it and it only has the one on drivers side. It is only 6.5 gallons which is kind of a pain because of limited range. They are still available on sites like Speedway Motors. I never bothered because I mostly drove around town and to local shows and honestly long distances in this car you need to stretch your legs every 100 miles anyway. Dash switch is still there to switch between tanks if you end up adding the 2nd back.
***Interior is really nice. Original builder was interior guy in Ohio. Full tan interior. Nice headliner. Bucket seats with lap belts. Small tear driver seat seam (see photo). Rear seat has one large lap belt. My kids used to ride back there but it is a challenge to get back there. Dash has VDO gauges that illuminate and look nice. Buckets have been modified to get as low as possible. Car is small, I am not...6'3" 300lbs. Although I physically fit it's not ideal. The big issue you end up looking above the windshield at the frame (see picture with Coke can). There is a cheap AM/FM/CD player mounted under dash. No heat and no air. It is no frills basic car. Well insulated and even in Sacramento during the summer with the windshield opened up and windows down it is fine. Car drives fine at freeway speeds. One hand on the wheel, no shake or shimmy or death wobble. It is manual steering, solid axle so it doesn't drive like a Toyota but it's not bad. My 16 year old drives around town and on freeway and he does fine.
