1966 Ford F350 Holmes 400RW wrecker tow truck 93,739 original miles, rust-free Arizona original barn find. 390 V8 manual transmission AC.
It ran and drove when parked. Yeah, I know we’ve all heard that story before, so I took a short video of it running and driving back and forth – please contact me with a phone number or email and I can text or send it to you directly. Fuel pump still works but after gas sitting in it for seven years, I gravity fed gas from a can to it to make it run and drive, so it’s all there and as unmolested as you’ll find anywhere. It does drive, but really should only be driven onto a trailer until the gas tanks are drained and flushed a little. Also, the master cylinder has leaked so right now the brake lines need to be filled and bled. I guess some of the brake fluid leaked onto the firewall right behind the master cylinder and took off the paint, that’s the only surface rust spot and it’s under the hood! Undercarriage pictures down the frame rails and rockers show how rust-free it is. (Most of what you see under there is flaking original coating and some good old Arizona dirt under there, not rust.) Red and white is an older repaint over original Arizona turquoise color.
For a 54 year old truck, it is in really good condition, partly due to its low mileage: it's clean title states "Actual Mileage." Spent almost all of it's life inArizona, so it has a solid body and it is straight. When I last drove it, it ran, drove, and stoppedexcellent. Windshield has a "blemish" that does not hinder the driver, all other glass is fine. AC blows ice cold and interior is in really pretty nice shape except the headliner is now sagging. Winch/tow assembly works like it should. Interior is good. Gearing is very nice, travels at highway speeds effortlessly. More modern light bar works as well as the original vintage alternating pancake lights.
Last time I really used it and drove it was seven years ago when I extended the Holmes wrecker boom to remove the engine from my ’76 Chevy C60 Homes 500 wrecker, and then towed it about 5 miles with this truck. It squatted a little in the back but was easily able to tow that medium duty truck. Around that same time I used this truck’s wrecker boom to load a bunch of engines from pallet racks into a box truck for mobile storage – the Mico brake lock and throttle controls are very handy for working as a boom lift in tight quarters.

Many people over the years have asked me to sell some of my eclectic collection of old cars and trucks and I’ve always refused. Now I’ve had a bunch re-contact me, saying they really want a project to work on while they’re stuck at home. So I figured that I should let some of these projects go on to bigger and better things. I have several other trucks and later I’ll list some cars too.
