Of the 21,380Thunderbirdsbuilt for the1957model year, only 1,499 were the fabulousE-Code Thunderbirds. TheE-Codeexamples were equipped with a 312/270 HP V-8 engine fed by two 4-barrel carburetors. ThisThunderbirdBronzeE-Bird is a fine and unrestored original example of the breed. Believed to be 97,083 original Miles. This is a 2-Georgia owner car and it has not bet wet since 1995. It has been in dry storage and is a no rust car. I haven’t washed the car for this reason. The second owner passed away and I purchased the car from his family. The interior is factory original Bronze however it comes with a complete & matching new old stock interior (still in original boxes) from 1991 purchased from Larry’s Thunderbird Parts in California. It includes carpet, seat covers, all panels and trim. This E-Bird was not running when I bought it and had no brakes. The following is what we did to the car. (mostly only service work) The oil & filter was changed (actually 2 times… initially and again after car was tuned/running and driven a bit), lubed the chassis, replaced points & condenser, drained and replaced transmission fluid, replaced spark plugs, new gas filter (internal filter only Kept original cannister on car), replaced fuel tank/sending unit and fuel inlet tube, blew out & cleaned all gas lines, rebuild kits for the original teapot carburetors, adjusted the lifters, replaced brake light switch, replaced brake master cylinder, complete front and rear brake job including new shoes/cylinders/ and 4 steel brake lines, inspected axle seals were fine, charged AC system (still R22), installed new correct battery, and 1 new battery cable end. I also replaced all 4 tires 195/75R14 Radials Hankook. The wheels are all EH code wheels including the spare. The car runs and drives great and I was very pleased with the outcome to say the least! I guess what surprised me the most were three things: 1. there is basically no blow-by from the motor 2. There are no leaks from the motor, the transmission or the rear end… 3. The Air Conditioning compressor and system works like new after charging it and the compressor is so quiet you can hardly hear it running. As stated above the car now runs/drives/ and brakes great. I have driven the car up to about 65mph and it is excellent. Everything works on the car except the tachometer, clock, and the radio. The lights and turn signals work, the power seat works, the speedometer, temp and fuel gauge work, the AC works and blowing cold, and the windows roll up and down just fine. There is a star in the windshield on passenger side… When I originally purchased this E-Bird, my plan was to clean the car up really good, polish the brightwork and trim, have my interior man replace the entire interior with the New Old Stock interior that came with the car, clean and detail under the hood, and buff the paint out. After talking with a couple of very experienced Thunderbird & big auction company guys about the car; they both advised me to not do the above and to leave the car as is… in regard to interior and even the dirt/dust on the car. They both said the same thing … that there are many collectors out there that would rather have this car as I found it and especially since the car is so original down to the details. This is hard for me not to clean this car up because that is what I like to do. I had already polished the original hubcaps prior to concluding on going in this direction with the car. This E-Bird has solid floors and trunk, and I have been around the car with a magnet and can not find any sign of body work on the car. It still has original paint in the trunk as well as on the firewall as you will see in the many pictures below. I believe this car to be 100% original sheet metal and body panels. There are lots of pictures below and I have attached a YouTube video of the car running. The last two pictures are the day I bought the car. Please look at all the pictures and the video and feel free to call me with any questions. I can pick you up at the Augusta GA airport or the Thomson GA (small aircraft) …on almost any day except Sunday You Tube Video Link: https://youtu.be/JBOFOBSga9I Please call/text or Email with any questions: Wendell 706-831-1899 Cell southernhotrods@comcast.net I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability.
