1968 Ford Thunderbird Landau Coupe

This is an extremely nice 1968 Ford Thunderbird Landau Coupe, which has won many local shows because of its originality and excellent appearance. It has been parked in a covered garage for many years, and shows the storage dust in the engine pictures.
The car is fully loaded, with all power options available for 1968, including the mighty 429 Thunder Jet engine, with 360 horse power and tremendous torque. This engine was an extra-cost option over and above the standard 390, and is highly desirable. The car drives amazingly well, and could be driven home from Houston, Texas, should the new owner care to.
Ford took a bold step in redesigning the Thunderbird for 1967. Added to the T-Bird range this year was a four-door sedan model, with forward-opening "suicide" rear doors, which included part of the roof. Even more drastic, the company dropped the convertible from the lineup for the first time. Underneath, the car began to utilize body-on-frame construction instead of a unibody setup. Despite what purists must have thought, the move was an attempt to broaden the car's appeal and sell more units, which was easily accomplished. Ford sold nearly 10,000 more T-Birds in 1967 than in 1966. This car is one of only 33,000 sold in 1968 and they are getting increasingly rare.
In addition to the four-door Landau sedan, a two-door coupe and Landau coupe were also offered. The Landau models had a vinyl roof and a decorative bar dressing up the C-pillar. All of the T-birds were longer and heavier than the preceding model, with full-width grilles, hidden headlights, and full-width, sequential blinking tail lights for turn signals.
The car has new whitewall tires, has recently had a full service with all fluids changed, and is in very good condition. The bench seat was standard, with buckets being optional and this car has the bench seating. The rear seat looks like a love-seat, and is very comfortable. The air conditioning is actually climate-controlled automatic heating and AC and works well. The car has no rust or damage of any kind, It has always been a Southern car. The vinyl roof is showing minimal wear.
This is a two-owner car and the last owner bought it in Arizona as it reminded her of a car she had in college. I would like a non-refundable deposit at the time of winning and the balance by bank transfer. The car is in heated storage and can remain there after full payment with no storage fees until you can arrange shipping or pickup. I will be happy to pick up the lucky new owner at Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) if you want to fly in and drive it home.
This is a car you can be proud of.
