1956 Ford Thunderbird
~ Black? Red? White? Even blue? Yeah, you see those T-Birds everywhere. But Buckskin Tan? That's pretty rare, and she's gorgeous! The matching tan (brown) and white interior compliment the exterior perfectly. This beauty has the iconic porthole windows in the removable hard top, rear wheel skirts, and the other iconic feature of this much sought after model year, the continental kit for the spare tire. That feature freed up a ton of space in the trunk for lots of gear. Your hardest decision each time you take her for a spin will be, "hard top, soft top, or convertible?" ~ This car was an instant classic, but the "Baby Bird" was only manufactured for three model years - 1955 through 1957. Only 15,631 model year 1956 T-Birds were produced, and that was the only year for the cool looking spare tire on the back. Given the rare color and limited number made, this is a special gem to own. She's very sleek looking at 195.2" long and 69.7" wide, and she weighs in at 2,980 lbs. ~ Make sure you pay close attention to the picture of the white foam board that contains original info about the car, including the name of the original buyer back on May 11, 1956, "Flossie Lafond" from Fortner Ford at Santa Barbara Blvd in Los Angeles! That surely sounds like a movie star to me! Could you imagine being able to buy this car today for $4,331.50? The info board came with the car when I purchased it back on October 28, 2013, and it will stay with the car when it is sold now. Neither the owner before me nor I added our names to the board. It's best to keep it "as is"! The car also came with a massive binder of photographs of the full body off, frame-up restoration that was conducted over a period of eight (8) months in 2000! What a treasure it is to have those photos and see the car completely apart, being completely painted in every nook and cranny on a rotisserie! The experts who completed the restoration are listed on the info board. ~ By way of full disclosure, make sure you see the picture of the small paint scratch area on right side of the spare tire cover. In case you don't know, the entire spare tire and cover leans backwards by means of a lever to give you access to the trunk and gas cap. When you do so, it rubs ever so slightly against the small chrome bumper that surrounds it. I couldn't figure out a fix, and I noticed many other ones with the continental kit that have the identical scratch mark in that area. Also, see the picture of the tachometer as the needle broke off at some point. Change it if you want, but it wasn't necessary for my needs. I have the original, very large steering wheel that had some small cracks at joints. I changed it to a smaller one that I obtained from a T-Bird parts dealer. It actually makes it way more comfortable to get in and out, and easier to steer. Finally, I had a new water pump installed in 2015. You can see in the picture that it's silver. If you want to show the car you'll want to paint it red to match the rest of the engine. I only took her to local car events usually part of charitable fundraisers, but she always came away with an award or trophy! A couple of them are seen in one of the photos. If you're the successful bidder, unless you're local to Central PA, it will be up to you to arrange for and pay for all shipping costs and fees.Vehicle Details:
