Description:
1966 Ford Ranchero
Offered for sale is a father/son amateur restoration. I took the Ranchero in trade for a whistle clean C-4 Vette and can only pass on what I was told by the previous owner. Fairly recent reconditioning of the engine and tranny, new carburetor, new aluminum radiator, new paint and new interior. The paint job was well done, the seat covers installed properly(although there is a very small flaw high on the driver's side, headliner and carpet look good in an amateurish kind of way, tires are good and the spray-on bed liner appears to be new as well. The engine is (I believe) the original 289 and the Ranchero came factory with the V8 (5-lug wheels). The V8 performs very well although it has the usual '60s Ford cold-blooded start. The car moves down the road well and the automatic shifts as it should. Starting from a dead start, the trans is a little jumpy for my taste and I believe the linkage needs adjustment. A look inside shows an aftermarket padded dash cover and cassette radio. Before anyone would want to show this Ranchero, these would both need replacing. The painted bumpers are very straight and look good but chrome would be nicer? Electricals are all good as is the glass. For someone wanting a square bodied Ranchero to drive and maybe put a few finishing touches to, this could be the car. Looking for possible trades for a 1978 and later V8 El Camino, a nice, small fiber glass clam shell tow behind trailer (Scamp, Casita, Burro), a Toyota motor home or a 4 Cylinder, 2X2 5-Speed Tacoma.Vehicle Details:
