This 1967 Ford LTD has been a California car since its build at the Los Angeles plant as decoded in the VIN.
This is a Z code car which has the 325hp 390cc big block engine.
U code shows that this has a C6 auto trans and the 8 code for the rear axle denotes 4:11 gears.
Included in the sale of this car are 4 original steel wheels, date stamped, and 4 original LTD hub cabs. The wheels and tires on it are brand new with less than 20 miles on them and are less than 3 months old.Also included are more than 60 repair orders showing various repairs from simple lube services to more complete engine rebuilds, including valve work, tansmission overhauls, etc. It is very clear that this car has been lavished with loving ownership. The interior is very orginal and worn into the previous owner's body. The drivers seat cushion is softer than the passenger side, and the dash has cracks from age and heat. The headliner, though, is very tight and perfect.
Upon first observing this car, you will find that it is very straight. It is laser straight!! I can't find any body work, though a respray was performed some time in the 70s. (There is a work order to show this work completed) The landau top was in very rough shape when I purchased the car, so I stripped it back to reveal a solid metal roof. The original lead work is still there where the factory sealed the patch panels for the smaller LTD rear windows. There is virtually no heavy rust on this car. There is some surface rust inside the trunk, and around the rear window base where the landau top was, shown in the gallery. This can all be easily removed with a wire brush. There is no rust under the vehicle, in the wheel wells, or under the hood either. This car has been kept in a warm, dry area for the last several years in a high desert climate. As a result, all of the chrome and aluminum surfaces are very shiny and bright.
I replaced the original carburetor with a new Edelbrock unit. Original carb will go with the car when sold. The previous owner removed the seized smog pump and subsequent plumbing. Those parts are all located in the trunk, where the original spare tire and jack are located.
The car starts very easily from cold and idles very well. Gear shifts are very smooth and quiet. All of the electrical components work, lights, horn, radio, blower motor, gauges, etc. with the exception of the fuel gauge. It reads empty no matter the fuel level. The A/C has been converted to R134a but does not blow cold. The compressor does turn on and off with a/c activation.
It drives straight and stops well, with the front disc brakes. The red brake light is illuminated on the dash- not sure why.
