1965 Econoline pickup truck.This truck is among the rarest trucks built by Ford motor company. It is a cross between a van and a pick up truck. The truck was built as a low cost around town pick up and delivery. The little truck had a lower cargo rate than the F series and was powered by a six cylinder engine and three speed transmission .
It came with only the bare necessities needed to operate on the road legally. Unlike its sister Econoline van the pick up sales were less than5% of the sales. So it was only built from 1960 to 1966 which was when Ford discontinued the line now after almost 60 years the little truck is greatly sought after by collectors and hot rod builders.
There aren't many survivorsleft for collectors to purchase. most of the trucks that haven't been crushed in junk yards that been bought for either parts or by builders that are ready to spend thousands of dollars to completely rebuild the body and mechanically take it back to original condition. This truck although not completely perfect is real close to original condition. All the most common problems such as floor pans wheel well opening fender rot etc. is not present on this truck .It does have a couple of pinhole size bubbles on the right and left side of the bed at the front. T/he bed where the truck was parked facing downward so water collected in the front of the bed was repaired by an amateur collector several years ago. he also painted white over a small amount of body filler. However the truck is sound other than what I have described. All of the mechanical issues have been taken care of such as new brakes fuel tank fuel lines new fuel pump carburetor plugs points distributer cap rotter wires and spark plugs. The truck has a new battery and has been a daily driver and a project for my son and I until last Christmas when he was rushed to the hospital after a long illness he passed on july1st.I have lost interest and get depressed every time I look at it in the garage.
This nice looking unusual truck runs and drive great..
