Frame Off Restored & Beautiful! 292 Y-Block V8, Auto, Upgraded A/C, Super Clean!
1955 Ford F-100 Custom Cab
This beautifully restored 1955 Ford F-100 pickup doesn't break any new ground in particular, but what it does offer is a classic look that's supremely well-executed and powered by a reliable Ford drivetrain. Arguably the best-looking pickup of the 1950s, the F-100 makes a great-looking hot rod without altering a single panel, and if you crave attention, this truck delivers in a big way. Pastel colors always works well on '50s pickup trucks, and this Sea Sprite... Green and Wimbledon White step-side is so bright and shiny you need sunglasses to look directly at it. None of the old Ford's beautiful body lines was altered during the build, but everything was expertly restored and fitted, so the gaps are exacting and even the big hood fits evenly with the fenders. It's the kind of detail that you don't notice immediately but gives the whole truck a very high-quality look that stands up to scrutiny. Everything is well done, too, including the black running boards, black bumpers fore and aft, and the ornate white and chrome grille. All the original chrome and stainless trim was replaced with new reproduction units, including the grille highlights, beautiful Ford F-100 emblems on the the hood, and even the glass molding: a detail in particular that exemplifies how nothing was overlooked during the build. Those painted bumpers give it an old-fashioned look and as is the style with all well-restored pickups, the bed is lined with beautifully painted-to-match oak boards that are protected by a heavy-duty rubber mat. The Ford's utilitarian interior was nicely restored as well, anchored by a comfortable bench seat wrapped in green and white vinyl that looks fantastic. All the components inside were replaced or restored during the frame-up restoration, and the decision to go with simple, honest designs that were common for the era is a choice we certainly celebrate. The door cards are fresh with new window and door handles on each side, and the simple gray color works well up against the light green paint. A new rubber mat protects the floorboards and makes cleaning up a breeze, while the large, original steering wheel was fully restored down to the center cap and sits atop a long factory column that also houses a slender shifter for the 2-speed automatic transmission below. The dash was completely redone back to factory standards and then drenched in the same paint that adorns the exterior, but not before new OEM gauges were installed in the factory location. A super-rare dial AM radio was preserved and installed in the dash as well, and unbelievably it still works, and the only major change from stock was the clever installation of a modern R134a A/C system that blows cold, although I don't think anyone is going to complain about that particular upgrade. The engine is a 292 cubic inch Ford Y-block V8 borrowed from a 1962 Thunderbird and dressed with black Thunderbird valve covers, a matching air cleaner, and the entire block was neatly coated in orange engine enamel. Rebuilt approximately 5,600 miles ago and topped with a 4-barrel carburetor that gives it a slight horsepower bump and the simple engine bay remains easy to service with readily available parts. A 2-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission makes it very easy to drive and gives it an old-school feel, and thanks to dual exhaust, it sounds great. There's still a rigid axle at both ends, hanging on leaf springs, but it has a fantastic stance and the rear end has 3.92 gears that make it peppy off the line. The chassis is fully detailed and ready to show off, with no rust or signs of previous accident damage that mean that this truck has led a good, easy life full of clean living. Factory steel wheels were painted Wimbledon White and adorned with Ford Baby Moon hubcaps for an awesome look, and are wrapped in 6.00-16 blackwall bias-ply tires that look right and fit well. Beautifully built, expertly finished, and nicely sorted, this is a truck that will attract a lot of attention and still put a big smile on the driver's face. Call today!
