Description:
1941 Ford Other
I've had a lot of fun with this old truck but it's time for someone else to enjoy it. York Hoover body company built truck in the shortest available configuration, extremely rare to find one in a half ton of this era! I have been looking for another example of this particular model since I got this one several years ago and I have been unable to locate one. Cooler than a divco and rarer than the more common 1950's models.Very nice original frame with zero rot or damage. Front crossmember has been modified for fuel pump and alternator clearance on each side. Center of the x member has been replaced with fabricated plates to fit the trans and mount the bones. Up front it has a stock 37-41 front axle that has been dropped 2â€, split bones, reverse eye spring, tube shocks, f100 self energizing brakes, and 42-48 16" wheels with excelsior bias ply tires that have only a few thousand miles on them topped with rough mercury caps. Rear suspension is factory 37-40 spring with reversed eyes and the factory helper spring. 1961 ford pickup 9" ford rear axle with 3.00:1 gears hung on 36 radius rods with an upper torque arm with air shocks. Rear wheels are 42-48 16" steel wheels with tornell bias plies. It cruises right along at highway speeds easily and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere at any time. It has a receiver hitch and 7pin wiring plug. I have hauled light cars (model a, t, 30's fords with it easily. I have made multiple trips to neighboring states, upstate ny, Ohio, wildwood nj, western pa, Hershey aaca swap, etc... it's been very reliable!
The engine is a 70's 305 with a th350 transmission, nothing fancy just reliable sbc power, factory 4bbl intake, Rochester qjet, hei ignition, cast iron exhaust manifolds through short glass packs with side exit exhaust. Aluminum jeep radiator with an electric fan. Actual miles on the engine are unknown but it has had recent timing chain, gaskets, and all accessories are new(water pump, fuel pump, alternator, starter, etc) it is very clean inside and it really runs great with just a puff of smoke on startup (could use valve stem seals), it leaks a few drops of oil but no major consumption, noises, problems etc. carries 25-30 lbs of oil pressure. The transmission shifts nice and has no known issues, nice pink fluid, it had a filter, flush, and pan gasket several thousand miles ago.
Interior consists of a 50s ford pickup bench seat, 40 ford deluxe steering wheel atop a factory steering box that has been rebuilt. A factory 40s column shift mast has been adapted to shift the transmission. Factory gauge cluster is intact but rough and not functional. It has a trio of old gauges, oil pressure, sw temp, and sw ammeter. Windshield is new but the rest of the glass is original and showing it's age. There is a tool/utility box mounted to the floor behind the seat. There is a 40s heater mounted on the firewall and it is plumbed but it is not currently wired.
Sheet metal is all original and shows dents, dings, and some areas of rust that could be addressed if you choose but I have been enjoying it just as it is for years and many miles. Fenders and hood were stored inside the truck for years and are very solid, passenger inner fender has rust damage where the factory battery leaked on it. Floors and interior walls, plywood headliner are original and untouched. Grille is solid with one small broken section on the cast center. There is no bumper mounted currently but I have a scruffy 40-41 bumper with brackets I will install if the buyer wants it.
If you are the high bidder on this amazing truck, be forewarned: you cannot go anywhere in it without having a conversation, people of all ages love this little buggy. It causes traffic! Great to advertise your business as I have done with it or haul milk, meat, bread, antiques, vintage treasures, etc. I am including an original factory sales brochure from York-Hoover Body Company that includes the specifications, paint schemes, and options that were available for this particular model.
Oilers signage will be removed upon sale. I am happy to assist with shipping but the buyer is responsible for making the arrangements. Delivery is a possibility depending on your location. This truck is titled as a 1939 ford truck, and the vin serial number on the title matches the number on the frame.
Please contact me with any questions, I'll be happy to help. Thanks!
