Description:
1930 Ford Model A
1930 Model A Ford town sedan, Murray body. This car runs and has a lot of good metal, but the wood in the doors and sills is rough.
My dad and I bought this car in Minnesota about 20 years ago. It had been stored in a barn for years. We immediately got it running and drove it around the yard, but never did much with it. It was garaged until a few years ago when Dad passed away and it was moved outside and tarped. I have a couple other As and just don't have the desire to restore this one. Back then, Dad rebuilt the original Zenith with all new parts. Engine also has a set of Champion 3X plugs that dad cleaned and installed. Has newer head gasket, radiator hoses and intake/exhaust gaskets. Muffler is a good used one from our parts collection.
Body - minor rust in passenger cowl bottom and some rust above windshield opening. Minor rust at bottom of rear body and splash aprons.
Fenders are rough and have been welded. Great doors. Hood hinge moves but is buckled in the center. The wood is bad in the sills and rear doors, but the body isn't all loose and floppy. Doors open and close. Drivers side b-pillar is loose at the bottom where the sill has pulled apart. Previous owner replaced roof wood with homemade pieces. They're functional but not the correct type of wood. Rear floor pan is surface rusty but not rusted through.
Paint is from the 60s or 70s and will clean up better than it looks in photos.
Interior - The front seat bucket is intact with the adjuster and tracks. Rear seat springs are partially complete. Armrest frame is still there. I have all 7 window garnish frames and the trim pieces for the door panels. Glass is mostly gone but tracks and regulators are intact. Dash features the desirable round speedometer.
Mechanical -We drained the coolant before storing the car years ago, but the head still cracked during a cold snap. There are no signs of block cracks however.
I flushed the tank and carb and cleaned the points and it started right up. It runs but doesn't stay cool due to the cracked head. Bottom end is quiet. I think the chassis is mechanically pretty good for a car that's been sitting this long.
The radiator isn't original to the car and appears to have been modified, or may be a Model B unit. It holds water but the shell doesn't fit over the top tank.
The clutch disc is currently stuck and I'm trying to get it loosened up so the car can be driven. No guarantees though.
Rear wheels are correct 19", front wheels are 16". Tires air up for moving the car around. I can swap the 16s for another pair of 19s but I don't have good tires for them.
The car has a clear Minnesota title and the engine number matches the title, A1933357. The Murray body number is 33328.

You can see a youtube video of the engine running Here (the engine isn't smoking, that's just some grass down in the exhaust manifold valley).
