1969 Ford Cobra sports roof. Original R code 428 candyapple red on black 4 speed car.Not a drag pack car. This car has not been registered since the early 90s.

Body:Some original paint and no serious rust or accident damage.Even the battery tray and area underneath are solid. The only rust through on the car is on the trunk lid and a solid replacement trunk lid goes with it.Unfortunately, it had a sunroof installed in it along with rear fender flares. The flares are fiberglass and have rivets holding them in place. The fender lips were not cut at all.One of the most solid bodies I have seen as far as rust and accident damage.Even the frame rails are not dented up from being jacked up.Mileage shows 25,561 which is likely 125,561. Again, no rust repair is needed-just repair the sunroof, fill in the rivet holes and fix a small ding on the driver fender is all the body needs.

Drivetrain.Original 428 CJ block dated 8L13 that has probably not been out of the car.I have not pulled the valve covers to check the dates on the heads, but they are C8OE-N CJ heads which are probably original.Has an aftermarket aluminum intake.Missing the smog. Has incorrect holley carb and incorrect Accel distributor. Missing the original exhaust manifolds/exhaust system, but has headers with header mufflers. Missing the air cleaner snorkel, vacuum actuator, heat riser, carter fuel pump and clutch fan.Original recored radiator.Original bellhousing dated 8H19 and original 31 spline CJ toploader RUG AJ.Has an aftermarket Hurst shifter. I have the just the chrome handle from the original shifter which is included.Original 31 spline 9 inch "N" Case rear with 3.50 open and staggered shocks. Case is dated 8L13. The former owner has the original cast iron intake on a spare 428CJ which I am in the process of buying. If I get the other motor I will include the intake.

Interior:All original black interior in good shape except for the original carpet which has rips in it. Driver seat has some small minor tears.A bolt in roll bar has been added along with the Don Garlits Dixco tach and gauges, but could easily be removed. All glass is good.Missing the original rim blow wheel.Interior just needs a clean up and some new carpet and a real steering wheel to be presentable (and have all the racing gauges and roll bar removed).Dash pad is not cracked.

Brakes:manual drum. Prior owner bolted on front discs, but they are not hooked up.The brakes are not functional.

Rim and tires. They are rollers and are missing the original chromed slotted steel wheels.

In order to make this car driveable you would need to: clean out the fuel tank and rebuild the brake system. I would suggest converting the brakes to power brakes if you plan to drive and stop the car. Also, the bushings in the brake pedal/clutch pedal support need to be repaired/replaced-I think power brake cars used a different pedal support, but am not sure.

The engine fires up and runs fine. I have not been able to run it long because I do not have it hooked up to the gas tank. Has what sounds like a header exhaust leak. Doesn't emit blue smoke. See video in the link below.

I bought this car from the second owner. He bought in the mid 1970s (while in high school) and converted to your typical loud, jacked up big rear tire pseudo drag car you see here. Was never drag raced except on city streets. Would be a great car to restore, leave as a hot rod/drag car, convert to vintage NASCAR Talladega clone racer or use the drivetrain for a 69 428CJ Mustang or Shelby that is missing its engine, trans and rear axle.
