1968 Ford Galaxie 500 XL

For Sale By Owner:
Dad passed away and mom has enjoyed the convertible long enough. She is motivated to sell this wonderful head turner. This is a driver. And the XL won in a car show here in Nebraska!
1968 Ford Galaxie 500 XL. Vehicle had an older restoration done to it. It is not a perfect 10. Dad did not believe in trailer queens. You have to drive and enjoy them he used to say. Odometer / Mileage is exempt. Yes, the headlights work. Still on vacuum power! The little doors pop up and viola!!
390 V-8. I am not a mechanic so I'll tell you the best I can. Dad had the motor professionally rebuilt. The block was slightly bored, a slightly larger cam, 4 barrel carb installed, and more!
The Ford runs well, everything works; power top, A/C, brakes, lights, etc.
As you can see in the pictures, the car is in excellent shape. Interior redone using original "Saddle" color and original exterior color of "Presidential Blue". Driver seat is rare power option. Stereo, Air, and Tonneau cover, dressed trunk, Cragar wheels, and much more!
Work done by professionals with professional experience. As seen in the picture, the engine is nicely dressed. Driving down the street the Ford has a pleasant sound. Not to loud and a cool classic hot rod image. The XL always gets thumbs-up, waves, and heads turning. The automatic transmission was rebuilt some years ago. Since the car was done, dad drove it frequently but usually in short mileage. To the office, family, dinner, etc. So there's not much mileage on the vehicle since the work was done.Since dad passed away, the XL has spent more time in the garage than on the road. Which I should mention, the Ford has always been garaged by mom and dad. No way was dad going to leave his baby outside!
Now here's some nitty-gritty:The 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible had a professional appraisal done roughly 4 +/- years ago. The convertible was valued at $31,000. Mom is motivated to sell. And she wants the garage space.Backing off for transport costs, service, some adjustments / repairs needed we believe we are offering a great deal. The Ford is a 51+ year old collector type car. There is no warranty. Vehicle sold as-is. Also, mom and or I can be available during day hours so you can have your mechanic or appraiser look the car over either with or without you (at your cost).Any books, manuals, basically anything we have that goes with the car is yours too should you buy the car.
Lastly... there's 2 things dad did not get done before he passed away. One is the driver side rear power window motor is getting old and needs replaced or track adjustment grease whatever. Window goes up, but that last inch or two it needs a little help getting up all the way. You car guys and gals know what I'm talking about. The second thing is the neutral safety switch on the shifter. The transmission was checked and is fine as is the cables and whatever. Dad and the mechanic called it a neutral safety switch. When you shift into park you have to make sure it completely engages. And then when you want to start the car, you just baby tap the shifter back (Still in park) to start the car. Anyway, dad passed away before he could get these two items taken care of.The air filter (re-usable) needs cleaned; I bought a new filter cleaning kit but I haven't got to it. The Ford should get a fresh oil lube and filter. At last check, brake pads were good. I think it's about time for a brake check and cleaning; general service. Dad was always on time with service and kept his baby clean. In fact, I just took it for a drive (city/highway) to keep the XL healthy. And with the top down, it was great!Any questions just ask. I'll do my best to answer or find out. Thanks and God bless! If you're interested but would like to make an offer, just message me. No low ball offers!
*By law, the odometer/mileage is exempt. The odometer works and currently shows 30700.5
