1950 Ford Custom Deluxe

This 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe 2 door sedan has been my Wife's daily driver for the past 7 years.Always garage kept and never driven in the rain or snow.Only selling due to moving to the country with two miles of gravel roads."Marilyn", as my wife named her, is mostly original from the firewall back. The previous owner replaced the front chassis with a late 1970's Plymouth Volare torsion bar suspension that has disc brakes and power steering. He converted the car to 12 volts and dropped in a custom built Ford 289 V8 with a small cam, Holley intake, Edelbrock 4 barrel carb, Mallory distributor, and Petronix electronic ignition. He also installed a new aluminum radiator and master cylinder. The transmission, drive-line, and rear end are all original.Since owning the car, we have replaced the rear brakes, steering idler arm, clutch assembly, and shocks.New radial tires were installed 8-10-17.Dual exhausts with glass packs add a distinct growl under acceleration. The original dash mounted clock and AM radio do not work as they were designed for 6 volts. We added an AM-FM radio with CD player that has two speakers under the deck behind the rear seat.Although the car looks great from 10 feet, it is not a show car or trailer queen. It has some rust along the bottom of the rocker panels and the metallic paint has some bubbles in a few areas. The gray/blue vinyl seats and door trim appear to be original.A dark gray headliner was installed by the previous owner and is in great condition. The 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive shifts effortlessly and cruises smoothly at 65-70 mph. It's a fun car to drive and is a great candidate for a full restoration or leadsled conversion.
