Description:

1965 Ford Mustang

This is a 1965 Ford Mustang coupe, originally equipped with a 289 V-8, automatic C4 transmission, power steering, and front disk brakes. The mileage is unknown. This car is a diamond in the rough for mustang enthusiasts who already know the ins and outs of restoring classic Mustangs. Some brand new parts are included with the car including weather stripping, lenses and such (see pictures). All the pieces shown that are off of the car will remain disassembled. You will want to purchase a master bolt kit along with this vehicle, as I am certain they are all no longer there.

-Engine: The original 289 V-8 has been replaced with a 1988 Ford 5.0L V-8. The engine cranks, and can intermittently idle given proper fuel supply. It is still computer controlled and fuel injected. It will need to relearn wear patterns in the engine control module. The 1988 5.0L is stock and has unaltered internal components as well as intake. Although, included is a brand new set of exhaust components that are 2.5” in diameter to give that nice lobbing sound. The picture shows only the mufflers because the rest are currently attached to the vehicle.

-Transmission: The original C4 Transmission that was mated to the original 289 V-8 is mounted with the 5.0L engine swap using a special flexplate. The transmission was also rebuilt some years ago, though the car never came together enough to use it.

-Interior: The Driver’s and passenger side seats have been reupholstered and have never seen use with the new coverings (see pictures). There is no headliner though the metal hoops will come with the vehicle. The rear seat is not new, but in decent condition for its age. The dash functionality is unknown, though looks intact and unworn.

-Brakes: Nearly every brake component was been replaced, with the exception of some lines. The entire rear drum assembly and front rotors, pads and calipers have been replaced. The same goes for the master cylinder that is of the manual, non-boosted variety.

-Exterior: As with most classics, this car has seen some unpleasant things. In the interest of honesty, when originally purchased, the car came to me completely covered in primer with tons of overspray. Some of that overspray still exists and there are original colors underneath it. There is also a significant amount of Bondo over-usage from the previous owner. The floor pans in the front, especially the driver’s side by the left foot rest needs replacement. The rear tailgate needs alignment and pinch welding. The Trunk lid needs replacement. The body needs the most work when looking at the whole. This is why I am choosing to keep it disassembled, because it is the first thing that needs attention anyway.

I am selling this car because I simply no longer have the time to work on it. While I was an ASE certified mechanic, the thought of doing even more work after work never appealed to me enough to see this resto-mod all the way through. If you have questions please feel free to e-mail. If there are things you want to see, I will happily take more pictures of (Ebay limits me to 24 photos). PLEASE USE PAYPAL. You must arrange for pickup of this vehicle. Shipping/transporting costs are the buyer's responsibility.

Thanks for your interest!
