1968 Ford Mustang Base

This 1968 Ford Mustang is a hardtop coupe finished in Diamond Blue over a blue vinyl interior. It was acquired by the seller two years ago in upstate New York, where the car had reportedly been used as a summer driver. Power is provided by a 200ci Thriftpower inline-six paired with a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission, and additional options include power steering, deluxe wheels, and a vinyl roof. Work since the seller's acquisition has included replacement of the rear main seal, as well as an oil change and inspection in July 2019. This Mustang is now offered with its factory build sheet, an owner's manual, and a transferrable New York registration.
The body is finished in Diamond Blue (N), which is listed as the original color on the factory build sheet along with a black vinyl-covered roof and black C-stripe graphics. Closeups of the finish are provided in the photo gallery below. The seller notes the presence of very minor blemishes in the brightwork. This being said the pain still shines bright and imperfections only noticeableunder close inspection.

14" wheels are equipped with wire covers and 3-eared spinner hubcaps, and they wear whitewall tires. Lighting includes front and rear side markers and hood-mounted turn signal indicators.

The cabin features two-tone blue vinyl upholstery over front bucket seats, as indicted on the build sheet. Blue loop carpeting is protected by rubber Ford-branded floor mats. A color-keyed steering wheel features the 2-spoke energy-absorbing design introduced for the 1968 model year, and optional power steering is equipped. A Philco AM radio is retained in the dash.

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and a 5-digit odometer which shows approximately 36k miles. The seller has added 500 miles during two years of ownership.

The 200ci T-code inline-six features a single-barrel carburetor and was rated at 115 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 190 lb-ft of torque at 2,400 rpm when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a C4 3-speed automatic transmission. An oil change and inspection were performed in July 2019, and the rear main seal was replaced last year to address a minor leak.
