One-owner California Blue Plate Survivor, Original Title
141,525 documented milesTruck comes with a folder full of receipts dating back to the mid '70s, which include details on the engine rebuild, brake work, tires, accessory purchases, etc. Most receipts have dates and mileage, establishing a paper trail on the ownership, and the mileage throughout the years. This includes the owner's handwritten notes documenting oil changes and routine maintenance he performed.
Exceptional original 44-year-old Hatteras green paint. Super straight body, dent-free and rust-free. It's extremely unusual to find anything with original paint this nice, but a 4x4 truck is unheard of. The truck has spent its entire life with one owner in one of the best climates on earth for preserving vehicles - East San Diego County (92021)andit was kept under a carport. The chassis is rust-free and has never been undercoated - nothing is hidden. No fresh repaint on a rusty mud truck here. Drip rails, cab corners, fender lips, cab floor, door bottoms, cowl - all are minty.
Additionally, the original owner used the truck as a recreational vehicle to pull a travel trailer, not for hauling brick and lumber. It was well maintained, never abused, modified or mud bogged. Pride of ownership shows throughout.
I know the family of the original owner and was fortunate enough to purchase this truck and another vehicle from the estate on 6/7/19. Unfortunately I have too many cars and can't keep it. I did a minimal amount of work to get it running, but it should have some more attention before it is street driven.
The truck was last driven in 2005. It was registered CA non-operational when the owner stopped driving, which I have documentation on, so there should not be any back fees. I went to AAA with title to confirm this.
The truck needs tires: two are very good, two are sketchy. The gas in the tank was gunked up so I replaced the tank behind the seat, cleaned the carb, and installed new fuel lines and filter. I also installed a new battery. Before it was started, I pulled the plugs, lubed the cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil, turned the engine over by hand and, after 48 hours, cranked the engine with the coil wire pulled. After pre-oiling, the engine fired and settled into a smooth idle. It smokes a bit but dissipates when warmed. Also sounds like it's got some lifter noise. The radiator still had green coolant and the thermostat opened up when it reached operating temp and it did not overheat. Heater core is still hooked up, A/C is also hooked up but does not blow cold. The original CA smog equipment is intact. Lights and gauges work.
Original paint was carefully cleaned, hand clay-barred with spray detailer, buffed with Meguiar's swirl remover, and polished with New Finish.
I drove it around the block. Clutch and trans worked smoothly. I think it has a leaky RF wheel cylinder, as it pulls a bit. Amazingly, the truck does not mess up the driveway. The vin # shows the truck left the factory with a FE360. The engine rebuild receipt shows a FE390 was installed.
Here are some date and mileage events of interest from the service history:

In addition to being an excellent example of a 44-year-old survivor vehicle that is rarely preserved this well (4x4 trucks), it's also an interesting '70s day-two example. The owner lavished the truck with cool period-correct accessories such as 8-track and cassette tape players, camper shell with carpet kit, Jackman Wheels, dual exhaust, swing-out cab steps, contrasting striping, mirrors, C.B. antenna, saddle tank, drink caddy, etc.
The saddle gas tank is not connected and still needs to be cleaned or replaced before it can be used. The heat shield on the exhaust rattles sometimes, so you can remove it or add a strap. The brakes do not have a lot of miles on them, but need attention from sitting. The float in the carb still sticks sometimes, but it's easily fixed by rapping on the carb with a screwdriver handle. The truck drives and can be loaded on your transport without problem.

Some additional details and answers to questions: Yes I have the complete air cleaner assembly. The choke cable under dash is not connected. It apparently is left over from a previous carburetor install. Correction of gas gauge operation. I added gas and it does not appear to be operating properly. The do windows work smoothly. All questions are welcome.

All,
Several have asked about the bed condition, and I was curious myself, so I pulled the carpet kit today. NO MORE CARPET KIT.
No big surprise is was super minty under there, shell was water tight. There's a couple spots where the original owner hit some scratches with a rattle can prior to laying down the plywood and indoor/outdoor carpet 40+ years ago. No dents in floor, wheel wells or inside tail gate. See the last four attached photos. I also included two photos of the door bottoms.
Auctions end Sunday evening.
