1966 Ford F-100
THIS AUCTION IS FOR BOTH TRUCKS!1966 FORD F-100 - FLAT GREEN & 1966 FORD F-100 - YELLOW/WHITE
As a father and son project, my teenage son and I bought these two trucks separately on ebay a couple of years ago. The flat green F-100 is a GREAT running, FUN to drive classic Ford that fires right up every time you start it. It has aftermarket A/C and power steering. When we started to replace the bed on the green truck, we found the pale yellow truckin near complete parts condition. It has a damaged front passenger fender and grille, but the hood and remainder of the body was straight. The yellow truck is a non-running F-100 that has a ton of trim pieces, a great bed, a great hood (with a few dings), glass, dash, and MANY other donor parts.
We had originally planned on combining the two trucks to make one, but could actually have completed them both fairly easily. The thought of turning the yellow one into a rat rod then came up, but we've ended up running out of time with this project. My travel schedule and my son's school/work schedule has interrupted our completion of the trucks.
When we purchased the green truck, much of the mechanical work had been completed. Since then, we have added power steering and corrected some issues with the underbelly.
The following has been completed on the GREEN truck (some of this was done when it was purchased, and some has been completed since that time):
1. Rear End - Rear end has a 3.00 gear ratio with 31 spline axles. It was out of a 1976 F100. This rear end is 3 inches wider than a stock 1966 rear end. Brakes have less than 200 miles on them. When changing brakes one day you will be asking for parts for the 1976 F100. Rear of truck was lowered 4 inches using the DJM drop shackles and hangers. The rear end gear oil was changed with swap and has less than 100 miles on it.
2. Front End - Front end was changed to a DJM Dream Beam set up and lowered 3.5 inches. Drop shocks were added. All new bushings, tie rods, drag links, and radius rod bushings were added. Not sure how many miles are on the brakes. Extra brake parts come with the truck.
3. Drivetrain - Trans is a 3-speed original with the 1966. The shifter was moved from the column to the floor using a Mr. Floor shifter kit. The shift pattern is (Reverse, Left and Up), (1st, Left and down), (2nd, Right and up), (3rd, right and down) Clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate are brand new with less than 500 miles on them. Carrier Bearing on driveshaft is brand new. Rear bushing on trans may need to be replaced, but hasn't been leaking.
4. Engine - The 300 inline 6 is out of a 1987 F150. It was originally a Fuel Injection motor converted to carb. Motor was rebuilt with less than 5,000 miles on it. Distributer is an GM HEI one wire style that is machined for the Ford engine. Electric fuel pump under hood. There is a toggle switch under the dash near steering column that will kill the fuel pump power. Radiator is a new aluminum 3 core.
5. Air conditioning - The AC system is a Cold Master setup. It is a AC/Heater combo unit. The heater hoses are not hooked up. The Freon used is 134A.
6. Wiring - Each electrical circuit has a separate relay. The fuse box that was original is still in use under the dash. The relays are used for AC/ Heater, Fuel Pump, Ignition. All relays have a separate inline fuse.
7. Interior - Seat has new upholstery. Steering column was shortened 1.5 inches. New carpet kit. Sound a heat proofing under carpet. Brand new gas tank and sending unit. The speedometer works, but needs a new cable. Fuel gauge works, but is a little off. If the sending unit was adjusted, the fuel gauge would be more exact. The stereo needs to be wired up and speakers added. There are speaker holes in the door panels already. The truck needs a headliner.
8. Wheels - Tires are normal Goodyear wranglers that were shaved down to expose white walls. Less than 500 miles on them. Hubcaps are off a 1965 Ford Falcon. Wheels are standard 5 on 5.5 lug pattern.
9. Tailgate - Not sure what year it is off but it is a good working tailgate that is good shape. An additional tailgate comes with the yellow/white truck.
10. Paint - The body is Hot Rod Flatz "British Racing Greenâ€. The interior is painted with a 2K Urethane "Wimbledon Whiteâ€. Grille and front-end parts painted with 2K Urethane "Wimbledon Whiteâ€.
11. Bed - The bed of the truck needs attention as seen in the photos. The truck bed floor has rusted through in all the usual locations. We have removed the bed and checked the frame for any damage, and found none. The yellow/white truck was going to provide a bed swap, as that one is in very good condition. The yellow/white truck also has a very good tail gate.
12. Hood - The hood has the typical metal pull/tears at one side where the hinge attaches. Many of these old Fords have issues here as the owners would try to slam the hood and cause it to damage the hinge attachment points. The yellow/white truck has a great donor hood and hinges. The current hood on the green truck is functional, but sits crooked due to the tears.
13. Power Steering - A power steering kit has been added to the truck within the last month. It makes driving the vehicle so much better than it was before. Since it is lowered and has a higher gear ratio in the rear end, driving this truck down the highway at 70 doesn't feel like a 1966 truck of any type. It rides well, and is easy to steer. The front end needs to be aligned, but I haven't taken into the shop to have this addressed. It's a very inexpensive repair, I simply haven't had the time to deal with it.
No matter where we go, this truck gets lots of attention. People of all ages love the looks of the classic lowered truck, and we've greatly enjoyed driving it around our town.
