1942 Ford GPW Military Jeep --

Authentic wartime 1942 Ford GPW with period correct Willys 4-cylinder engine and drivetrain! Only 5,400 miles on complete rebuild! Loaded with all the proper gear including shovel & ax, storage boxes, combat wheel with non-directional tires, and more! Excellent driver investment! With the beginning of World War II, the United States War Department took to production equipment for its military personnel to win the war overseas. Production vehicles would need to be small & lightweight for easier transport, maneuverable enough... to manage a variety of roadways, and efficient enough to utilize and/or tow multiple accessories. The small -ton 4-wheel-drive contract was awarded to Willys for their design meeting these stringent requirements, beating out Ford, mostly for their powerful 60 horsepower engine. Although, with the Willys MB in full production, it failed to meet the massive demand necessary to fulfill the military request. Ford would join forces with Willys to build their patented jeep, but under its own model series called GPW. The Ford factory was far better equipped at production at this scale, and faithfully produced the GPW jeep with fully interchangeable parts. Dwight D. Eisenhouser would call the Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps one of six most vital vehicles to help win the war! Today, they are highly collectible and used frequently among military clubs for reenactments and convoy tours! Offered here is a beautifully maintained 1942 Ford GPW military jeep dressed with Canadian markings and hand-painted Mickey Mouse camouflage. Under the hood lies a wartime correct Willys 134ci Inline 4 cylinder dated from 1943, mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. Additional features include the frame & canvass soft top are included, tilt-out windshield, 4-wheel drive, two wooden ammo boxes carrying spare parts & service manuals, shovel & ax, canvass door covers (half door), combat wheels with new tires, custom front bumper converted with wood plank to be used as a bench and a wicker basket attached for more gear to be stowed. The original Carter carburetor was fully rebuilt and tuned last summer 2018 along with new intake & exhaust manifold gaskets, valve adjustment, oil change, new 6-volt battery, rebuilt generator, and new exhaust. The coolant system is filled with Evans waterless lifetime fluid, and the brakes are fully converted to silicon fluid when a complete overhaul was performed that included master cylinder, two new drums, and new brake lines as well. Because of the brake lights were originally tied into a manual blackout light switch, it has been converted to work like a regular vehicle and illuminate with the brake pedal at all times, alleviating the need to turn the light switch on when going for a cruise. The starter also works solely with the key, instead of having to use a foot pedal starter. Additionally, vacuum wiper system was added and an interior Canadian defroster blower motor in the cabin to act as a heater that blows on the drivers feet. All features and improvements came from necessity as the previous owner toured avidly all over the country, many times at elevation or in hot environments. These include New Mexico, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Carolina! This example was built in the Dallas, TX plant in August 1942 before making its way to Europe. Upon return, it found its way to an Oregon collector who had the engine and drivetrain fully restored in 2008. It would be sold with only 9 miles clocked on the zero-timed Odometer. All instrumentation continues to work wonderfully. Today, it has accumulated 5,466 miles! A well proven driver investment that is nicely documented in many YouTube videos created by the past owner, a true WWII expert and convoy organizer, of approximately 11 years using it on military convoy tours with fellow enthusiasts! It is a very honest GPW with a real wartime Willys engine, and dressed with unique Canadian camouflage ready for the front lines. Several spare parts will be included (fuel filters, belt, gaskets, clamps, ignition equipment, fluids, hand tools, etc.). Please feel free to call with additional questions, or make an offer to own this fine military collectible before its too late!
