1965 FORD CAMPER SPECIAL DELUXE, ORIGINAL PAINT SURVIVOR F-100 F-250
1965 Ford F-250 CAMPER SPECIAL
THIS CALIFORNIA NATIVE 1965 Ford F-250 CAMPER SPECIAL DELUXE TRUCK WAS BUILT AT THE SAN JOSE PLANT IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND HAS SPENT ITS ENTIRE LIFE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE SECOND OWNER PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM A DODGE DEALERSHIP IN 1975 AND THE TRUCK WAS LIGHTLY USED ON A RANCH FOR 43 YEARS. THIS SURVIVOR CUSTOM CAB TRUCK STILL MAINTAINS IT'S ORIGINAL TWO-TONE CARIBBEAN TURQUOISE AND WIMBLEDON WHITE PAINT AND SIDE MOLDINGS ALONG WITH ITS REAL CALIFORNIA PATINA. THIS IS A SUPER CLEAN STOCK TRUCK THAT RUNS AND DRIVES AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN REGISTERED.
THE BODY- The factory floor pans are solid with light surface rust only: they do not show any signs of welding, patching or repairs and they do not have pin holes. Both kick panels are in good condition with no signs of rusty holes or repairs. The lower cab corners are solid and show no signs of rust. The fire wall shows no signs of rusty areas except for some surface rust below the master cylinder: the fire wall is solid and clean. The exterior bed sides are original to the truck and overall, they are in good original condition. There are no signs of rust repairs, patching or old bodywork: the paint is original. The tailgate has a dent on the top edge where it was bumped while in the down position. The top of the bed is in good condition with light distortion at some of the stake pockets. The interior bed side panels are in good, solid condition and are not beat up or dented. The original-paint doors are in good condition with no signs of rust repair or patching. The lower portion of the passenger door has been up against a wooden post that did not damage the paint but left a dent along the bottom edge. The original-paint front fenders are clean with no signs of rust repairs or patching. There is a small dent low on the front of the left fender where the bumper made contact with the fender. The original inner fender panels show no signs of repairs: they look solid. The original battery tray is functional but has some rot. The radiator support is also original and shows no signs of rust or repairs: it looks good. Both the inner and outer rockers are original to the truck and are not full of body filler. There are no rust holes in them, just some light pitting and surface rust at the driver's side front corner: they both look solid for being original. The body mounts and body braces are solid with no signs of rust holes or pitting. The windshield pillars and upper windshield area both inside and outside are rust-free and in good condition. The metal dash is in good condition with no signs of rust or rust repairs. The rain gutters are all solid along with the roof and they show no signs of rust or rust repairs. The hood is in decent condition and it fits nicely to the fenders. There is a small area of rust pitting at the right front edge of the hood and there are various small dings and dents from being used on the ranch. The bottom side of this truck is not rotted out and it is apparent, when looking underneath, that this truck was a dry vehicle. This truck has all of its original Ford panels and overall the body on this truck is in good condition. This is an original truck that has minor dings, dents, and scrapes throughout but overall this truck is straight and clean. The original turquoise and white paint on this truck still has luster and turns heads.
THE INTERIOR- The inside of this truck is clean and presentable, and the original front seat is intact, but the driver's side material is tearing. The truck has its original seat belts with rare belt retractor option. The original rubber mat is in good condition with no holes or wear marks. The original aluminum sill plates are straight and there is no corrosion or pitting in them. The glove box liner is intact and in good condition. The instrument cluster / gauges are clean-looking and all in good working order. The heater blower and the heater switch are intact and are in good working order. The original padded sun visors are intact and in good condition. The perforated cardboard headliner and bright aluminum trim is intact but with a few waves and distortions. The original dash pad is intact but has some cracks and waves. The steering wheel is in good condition with no cracks and the chrome on the horn ring is also clean. There are no added speaker holes cut into this truck and the original radio is intact, although non-functional. Overallthe inside of this truck is in good, original condition.
THE MOTOR- This truck is equipped with the original 208 HP 352 FE big block V8 2-barrel that is bone stock and in running order. This truck runs and drives and does not smoke, but the engine will need a valve job soon. There are also some exhaust leaks between the heads and exhaust manifolds that need attention and the muffler should be replaced.
THE TRANS- The trans is the original New Process 435 4-speed compound-low manual transmission and it is good working order. The floor shifter is nice and tight, and the clutch does not slip. When you drop this truck in gear there are no universal joint clunks or noises.
THE OPTIONS- This Camper Special Deluxe was equipped with the following options: heavy-duty front/rear springs, 55-amp alternator (dual belt drive), high-capacity radiator, oil & amp gauges, western (junior)-style mirrors, deluxe fresh air heater, emergency flashers, two-speed windshield wipers, windshield washers, driver storage compartment, dual horns, padded dash, padded sun visors, seat belts, two-tone paint, chrome front bumper, and passenger side tool storage compartment. In addition, the first owner added rear back-up lights with a dash-mounted switch and the rear bumper.
THE OVERALL-This F250 Camper Special long bed truck is a nice, original paint survivor that was well taken care of and was not beat-on or abused over the years. This is a very original truck that still has its originalblack California license plates and the owner's manual. The original jack and the jack hardware are also included in the bed side storage compartment. The front suspension looks to be original to the truck and the truck steers straight on both high and low speeds but will require kingpins soon. Keep in mind: it's not a new truck. This truck has the original lock ring rims with the rare and difficult to find "bright" finish hubcap option. The tires are old with sidewall cracking and should be replaced before driving long distances. The original bed is in overall good original condition, but there are some dings on the wheel housings and surface rust on the bed floor. The first owner added the four hooks to the bed sides for anchoring a slide-in camper. The second owner removed the bed side trim and carefully installed hooks for tying-down loads. The side trim has been reinstalled and it covers any extra holes. The original electrical wiring appears to be in good condition and the head lights, dome light, horn, turn signals, taillights, emergency flashers, accessory back-up lights, heater blower and wipers are all in good working order. The original Ford glass is not cracked or pitted and is in good original condition except for a rock chip in the windshield. The front bumper is original to the truck and is straight and clean. The rear bumper was installed after the truck was purchased and is in good condition. The factory license plate holder and light are still mounted to the bed behind the rear bumper. The brake master cylinder is new, and the brakes are functional, but I recommend having the drums, wheel cylinders, and shoes inspected for your own peace of mind. The bottom side of this truck is not covered with under-coating from the factory and it is clear to see that it is not a rotted-out mess. Overall this Ford is a blast to drive and it gets a lot of positive attention. This is a hard-to-find, affordable classic in thiscondition that will only go up in value.
