Direct fromowner-collector!3/11/19(*)NOTE: In answer to the many inquiries and questions...I've added two newphotos to the lineup. This slantwindowVictoria, was a mid-year production car. Ford made changes during production runs due to thegovernmentsinterference and requests for safety...they wanted the gas shutoff valve moved from under the dashboard, to the outside firewall. The first firewall photo shows the standard 1931 flat firewall with fuel filter mounted...the carburetor on this unit, is a Zenith-2, a upgrade from the Zenith-1 carb. The top half of the carb is the originaldesign....not the newer version with the carb-side mounted filter. Some were changed out, and some were not...depending on the production run, and what was in the parts box at the time the car passed on the line. The second firewall photo, which is this Victoria...shows the newer Teardrop indentation (known as the indented firewall)...whichaccommodated the shut-off valve. The later carbs (Zenith-2 and Zenith-3) were fitted with the newer top-halfportion containing the filter and drain valve. Our unit has the indented firewall...usingthe original Zenith-1 carb. Also to note, is that the earlier 31 Ford (first firewall photo), hadthe newer Zenth-2 carb, but not the firewall indented. These changes duringproduction were very common, as you can see. Henry wasn't about to scrap bins of parts tosatisfy the government demands...he incorporated them into the pipeline during the entire 1931 production year. Hope this clears up someconfusion from the expertannalistsand critiques.... JC
