Old on the outside, but all updated underneath. Runs and drives excellent! Always starts right up and needs nothing. Easily cruises at interstate speed...and often in the left lane passing by people with confused looks and large smiles.
Built to be easily drivable and highly dependable but with an old farm truck appearance. Mostly used for cruising around town and hauling hot rod parts/motorcycles/whatever needs hauled. Truck has been on several 200-300 mile trips to the Jalopy Showdown in PA and Jalopyrama in MD. As well as a 1,500 mile round trip to GA. Never had a single issue or hiccup.
Engine:
- Fully rebuilt 350ci Small Block Chevy
- Bored .030
- Speed Pro CS-1095R hydraulic camshaft with .450/.460 lift and 291º/287º duration
- Cylinder heads resurfaced, new valve guides, valve job and springs
- Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake with Holley 4 barrelcarburetor
- Polished finned aluminum valve covers
- Polished finned aluminum air cleaner
- Approximately 5,000 miles on engine since rebuild
Transmission:
- Chevrolet T5 5 speed manual transmission with overdrive
- Original '60-'62 Chevrolet truck bellhousing with external hydraulic slave cylinder
- Wilwood master cylinder for hydraulic clutch
Cooling:
- Aluminum radiator
- 2,000 cfm Spal electric fan with automatic temperature controlled on/off
- Original firewall mounted heater converted to 12volt
Chassis:
- Classic Performance Products (CPP) Mustang II independent front suspension with 2" drop spindles
- Power rack and pinion steering
- Power disc brakes
- CPP power brake booster and master cylinder. Mounted in original underfloor location to keep the firewall clean and original.
- CPP rear leaf spring kit
- CPP rear frame C-notch for axle clearance
- Ford 9" rear with 3:50 gear ratio. Axle bearings replaced and brakes rebuilt.
- Original '49-'51 Ford car wheels in rare 16" diameter to clear the disc brakes
- 6.00x16 Firestone wide whitewall bias ply tires
Rear wheels/tires:
- Original '40-'48 Ford 16" wheels
- 7.00x16 Firestone wide whitewall bias ply tires
Body:
- One black paint job over original green paint
- Windshield glass and seal replaced
- Door glass replaced (crack in driver door glass, see pic for closeup)
- Vent window glass replaced
- Window channels and fuzzies replaced
- Vent window seals replaced
- Rear glass is cracked. Was not replaced due to being original and not affecting view.
- 2" square steel tube bed frame fabricated and bed floor raised to allow for rear differential clearance.
- Steel tread plate bed floor with tie downs.
- Rear bumper is from a '60-'66 Chevy truck that has been narrowed 12" with custom license plate box fabricated.
- Original front bumper
- Tailgate hinge fabricated to accommodate raised bed floor. Tailgate easily opens/closes.
- Door bottoms have been replaced
Interior:
- Front floor pans fabricated and replaced
- Removable transmission tunnel fabricated
- Floor has thick/heavy rubber backed sound deadener mat
- Unused holes in firewall have been plugged/sealed
- Firewall, back of cab and roof of cab have foil backed peel and stick sound deadener/heat resistant mat. That's covered with a black foam sound deadener mat.
- Inside of doors have peel and stick sound deadener mat. Doors shut solidly and securely.
- Interior of cab is nice and quiet. No squeaks, rattles, wind noise, etc.
- Original bench seat with new seat cover
- Radio/CD player installed in glovebox
- 4" round speakers hidden behind front kick panels
- 6"x9" speakers behind rear seat
- Storage box fabricated for behind rear seat where original fuel tank was removed
Misc:
- Dual exhaust with Cherry Bomb glass pack mufflers
- Completely rewired with new wiring harness and fuse block with modern blade type fuses
- Electric windshield wiper conversion from Vintique Inc.
- Original dashboard remains but gauges are disconnected. Modern type gauges mounted in glovebox to retain original interior look.
- Fuel gauge mounted under dash
- In cab fuel tank removed. '49-'51 Ford car fuel tank mounted under bed. Inside of tank cleaned and lined.
- Original NAPA add on turn signal switch on column. Small LED indicators in dash.
