1949 Mercury M68 M1 M3 Ford F3 F2 F1 Barn Find Patina Farm Truck NO RESERVE
1949 Ford Other Pickups
1949Mercury M68 (Ford F3) Pickup Truck. The rare 48-50 Mercury equivalent of Ford's F3 were designated as an M68 due to the 6,800 lb gross vehicle weight. This is an un-restored barn find truck. The original Flathead V8 is partially disassembled and in need of a full rebuild or replacement, the cylinder heads, intake and radiator are all missing. A very good candidate for a full restoration due to rarity and very minimal rust body rust. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder. Contact must be made within 24 hours of the auction ending or it will be assumed that you have no intention of honoring your bid and the truck will be offered to others. Zero Feedback bidders must make contact prior to bidding. It has a remarkably solid, mostly rust free body with no repairs or bondo. All of the paint is original, this truck has had zero bodywork done to it. The floorboards are the big disappointment on this truck, they are rusted and will need replacing which is odd because the rest of the cab including the cab corners is rock solid. Fortunately a floorboard is easily replaced on these trucks at little cost and if you're wanting to preserve the patina this repair will have zero effect on that. The front fenders where these trucks are prone to corrosion are incredibly solid with only very minor signs of rust appearing. The bed sides have none of the usual rust ahead of the rear fenders. Fortunately it has not been fitted with a dump bed as many of these old prairie farm trucks have which is preferable to most buyers today. All Mercury emblems are present and in very nice condition. There are surprisingly few dents for an un-restored farm truck. The tailgate was missing but we have sourced a solid 48-52 Mercury M68/M3 tailgate which will come with the truck. These are very rare tailgates being wider than the Half Ton tailgates, it is especially hard to source one in such good condition. Overall this is a very good all original example of a first generation Mercury M Series pickup truck. The original paint and solid straight body gives it a beautiful look.
The interior is complete and ingood condition for its age with a nice dashboard. The Mercury radio blank panel is in better condition than most with only a very slight split to it, often these are completely broken in two. The Mercury horn button is also present.
This truck rolls and steers freely for ease of loading onto a trailer or moving into a shop.
Due to the much smaller Canadian market, Ford of Canada only sold approximately one tenth as many trucks as Ford did in the US and around two thirds of those were Ford's leaving the remaining third to be Mercury's. So very few of these trucks were produced and it is becoming much harder for us to source nice original and complete examples such as this. Due to Canada's harsh climate only a handful remain today.
This will make a great project being that it is a rare truck with very only really floorboard rust to contend with. It deserves a fresh motor and bringing back to life. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.

Most American barn finds have long since been found and tampered with by multiple owners; North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good, solid, original vehicles, waiting to be brought back to life.
We make thesevehicles available to the US market by taking care of importation and providing all paperwork required to obtain a ClearUS Title, in your name and home State.
We are passionate about finding the best there is and understand that our customers wantto see automobiles that have not been tampered with; The more original, the better.
