Incredible Find, 1986 LX Mustang Convertible with only 13,792 ACTUAL miles, 5.0

EFI HO Engine, Auto Overdrive Transmission, Oxford White Canyon Red interior and a White Convertible Top

My buddies and I ran across this car about 2 1/2 years ago in a garage where it was covered with dust. No one could tell us for sure long how long it had been stored there, but they knew it had been a long time. They told us it had not been on the road for years but that they cranked it up about once a month to circulate the fluids.

We found It hard to believe the mileage was correct and all original, but the car was straight as an arrow, all intact and the interior was perfect. The owner of the garage put us in contact with the owner (who had moved away and stored the car there) and we worked out a deal to purchase the car.

We brought the car back to my shop, flushed all of the fluids, replaced them with all new fluids, new filters and replaced all the belts. We started the car and it ran and drove great. Next step was to sent the car to the detail shop and had it cleaned, buffed and waxed, what we found hiding under all that dust and dirt was as near-a-new car that I have ever seen for a 30+ year old car.

If this wasn't incredible enough, during the detail and clean up we found all of the paperwork (see photos) still in the original holders and envelopes that came with the car when it was new. We even found the Pro-Tecto plate (FMC OWNERCARD), dealer build sheet, dealer BOS, the owner linage, owner's manual, service books and more, it's all here.

The car runs, drives and handles extremely well and the engine is very strong with lots of pep. If this was your dream car back in 1986, this baby rolled off the dealers lot for $16,809 and if you could not buy it in 1986, this is the car you would have found on a dealers lot in 1987 or 88 being sold as a very clean used car. Today you would find this car in the dealers showroom or in someone's collection as an incredible Survivor
