This is a rare mustang as is came factory with the 302 4V motor, four speed top loader transmission, limited slip rear axle, heavy duty suspension, power disc brakes, styled steel wheels, and sport deck rear folding seat. The Mustang has the same options as a GT would have minus the fog lights. 69,000 original miles.
I purchased the Mustang from the second owner who owned it from 1972 to 2017 when I purchased it. The car had 41k miles on it when it was purchased in 1972. From 1972-2005 the car has only traveled an additional 27k. The Mustang was driven occasionally from 1972 to 1981, then stored from 1981 to 2005, during that time the car was driven around the block about once a month to keep the car in good working order. The car has not seen rain since 1972 as it has always been garaged and occasionally driven on nice days by both the previous owner and myself.
In 2005 the car was sent to the mechanic to have the car gone over after its long term storage. A brand new Vintage Air conditioning system was installed, the A/C is literally still brand new as it was never charged after the installation. The cost of the A/C system was almost $5,000. New rear leaf springs, power rack and pinion steering, front and rear shocks, front coil springs, gas tank, radiator, brake calipers, lines, rear wheel cylinders, gas tank were also installed at that time. The car was only driven for a few months before it was put back in storage due to the second owner having health problems and not driven much in till I purchased the car. Upon my purchase I have done repairs and upgrades listed below.
ENGINE- This car was ordered with the rare J code 302 4V motor. The 302 has had a rebuild at some point. I recently installed a new Edelbrock 600 CFM electric choke carburetor with matching Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, Petrononix electronic ignition (no more points), valve covers, air cleaner, radiator, flex fan, fuel pump, battery, temp sending unit, all rubber fuel lines and vacuum hoses. Recent professional complete tune up, carburetor adjustment and timing.
TRANSMISSION & AXLE- This car was ordered from the factory with limited slip a 3.00 rear axle and four speed transmission. I had the original four speed transmission recently serviced. I also installed a new shift bushing kit. The transmission shifts crisp and precise.
BRAKES & SUSPENSION-This car was ordered from the factory with heavy duty suspension and power disc brakes. The steering was recently updated to a new power rack and pinion steering and pump. New front calipers, pads, front and rear brake lines, rear wheel cylinders, and shoes. All rubber bushings on the front end were recently replaced including; upper and lower ball joints, control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, sway bar end links and bushings, tie rod ends, ect. New front and rear shocks, front coil springs, and rear leaf springs. The Mustang drives like a new car, the steering is tight and responsive.
PAINT & BODY-The car has had one older repaint of 1968 Mustang color Raven Black. This was a high end paint job. All trim and windows were removed. The door jambs, trunk area, and under the hood were all painted correctly as well. New front and rear window seals were installed after its repaint. I recently had the paint professionally cut, buffed, polished, and it turned out gorgeous. The original color of this Mustang is Highland Green (3607-A).All though the Mustang was not repainted its original color, the Raven Black looks absolutely stunning... This car has NO RUST ANY WERE. As mentioned the car has been garaged and not seen rain since 1972. This Mustang is the epitomeof a time capsule survivor in like new condition. It is hard to tell by my pictures, however the paint on the undercarriage looks almost new still. The entire undercarriage of the car is in pristine condition. At first glance the car looks restored. I have had several people comment about how nice of a restoration the car has, when I tell them its un-restored they can't believe it. The body is strait as an arrow. The car has never been in a accident. All of the glass including the windshield is original and all of the glass has its original Ford correct markings. A very subtle window tint was installed on the car at some point.
INTERIOR-The interior is in mint condition and is completely original with the exception of the Grant wood steering wheel with cobra horn button. The seats look brand new as does the headliner, dash, carpet, interior plastic panels, and door panels. The car still retains its original AM radio. All electrical works including all of gauges, dash/interior lights ect.
WHEELS & TIRES- The original styled steel wheels are in mint condition. The original hubcaps still look new, but are original as they still have there original Ford stamps. I just installed four new Cooper Cobra tires on the Mustang within the last 50 miles.
A/C- Brand new Vintage Air conditioning system installed within the last 500 miles. The heater works great and the heater blower motor is nice and quite. All heater control levers work and operate smoothly.
**The following original parts come with the Mustang- air cleaner, valve covers, spare rim, trunk mat, folding lug wrench, jack, and steering wheel. The car still has its original door data plate. I have a Marti Report as well (see info below and picture of the Marti report).
This is truly one of the finest un-restored original J code four speed fastbacks out there. The car starts as soon as the key is turned. The Mustang runs drives, and still even has the new car smell. I have regretfully decided to put my prized Mustang up for sale. This is a no disappointments car. The car looks as good in person in pictures, runs and drives better than new thanks to the mild performance and reliability upgrades that have been done. The car needs nothing and is turn key ready to drive anywhere.
