1948 FORD SUPER DELUXE CLUB CONVERTIBLE COUPE

Price: US $40,000.00 Item location: Corte Madera, California, United States
Description:

1948 Ford Other Super Deluxe

1948 Ford Super Deluxe Club Convertible Coupe. Older Concourse Level Restoration. Member of the same family since 1968.
Pale Yellow (Karate Kid) with Tan Interior and Top. Restored to original specifications with the exception of period correct and concourse acceptable addition of a chrome engine dress up kit - Fan Blades, Hose Covers, Air Cleaner Assemblies (As shown in photos) and twin Stromberg 97 carberators. An electronic fuel pump was also installed. Car starts instantly and runs beautifully. Recent and extensive calibration work on the ignition and carburetors to get ready for spring driving.
Engine Compartment is in excellent condition as shown in photos.
Interior is in excellent condition as shown in photos.
Mechanical condition is excellent with $8,000 in recent service work. The car is sorted out and runs and drives very well. Has been safely speed tested on the freeway up to 85 miles per hour.
Paint is in good condition for an older restoration and has just been block sanded and polished. Very good shine with some pantina and signs of wear. The car presents well as shown in photos.
Top is in average condition with fading and signs of wear. The rear glass window trim has deteriorated resulting in discoloration of the surrounding canvas as show in photos. Top mechanicals need to be serviced with new hydraulics and top motor rebuilt. I have discounted the price by $5,000 for these top related issues but have a local top and interior shop with over 40 years experience that can replace the top and mechanicals in 4 days to Concourse level for $5,000. This can be done prior to delivery with the proper price adjustment. These top issues are the only major issues with the car and are typical for this era of Fords. All top structural pieces are in excellent condition as is the interior of the top.
I will consider reasonable offers and work closely with the buyer to arrange shipment or local delivery. Car has always been a rust free, garaged, maintained, and a California Car. The only reason it is being sold is the recent passing of my father and a $70,000 restoration bill on our 1973 DeTomaso Pantera.
She is no longer a show car or trailer queen. She is a very nice driver that can be driven and enjoyed for years to come. A perfect addition to an Early Ford Collection of the most sought after year and color combination of the 1940s Fords. The car gets a lot of attention and is "THE CAR" that everyone wanted to drive in the late 40s and early 50s until the Thunderbird and Chevrolet Bel Air arrived. No better 1940s addition to an American Automobile Collection.
The NADA, Hagerty Valuation Tool, and Recent Auction Results would value the car in its current condition at $52,000. I have discounted the price to $47,000 due to the average condition of the top exterior canvas and mechanicals. I have further discounted the car to $40,000 to attract a timely and clean sale. There is significant upside potential at this price. With a new top, the car would be a Level 2 car and would do well at local events.
