"PERFECTLY IMPERFECT"
I KNOW IT IS A LONG AD BUT PLEASE READ IT, IT SHOULD HAVE THE ANSWERS TO ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS.
THIS IS A 1947 FORD 1/2 TON SHORT BED PICK UP THAT WAS RECENTLY BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE OUT OF A BARN IN PHOENIX AZ. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD REBUILT ENGINE, TRANS, REAR END AND BRAKES ALL BACK TO ORIGINAL AND DON'T EVEN HAVE 1,000 MILES ON THEM BUT WAS DONE ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO. IT IS THE ORIGINAL FLAT 6 WITH A 3PD MANUAL ON THE FLOOR. I BOUGHT IT AS PILES OF PIECES AND BOXES OF PARTS AND HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS GETTING IT BACK TOGETHER AND BACK ON THE ROAD. THE ENGINE FIRES RIGHT UP AND IS ONE OF THE SMOOTHEST RUNNING FLAT 6 ENGINES I'VE EVER HEARD. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY SMOOTH WITH NO GRINDING IN ANY GEAR AND THE CLUTCH IS NEW AS WELL. THERE WAS A LITTLE CLUTCH PLATE CHATTER WHEN I FIRST GOT IT DRIVING BUT LESSENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. BRAKES ARE SOLID AND HAVE NO ISSUES.
THIS IS ONE OF THE STRAIGHTEST AND CLEANEST BODIES I HAVE EVER SEEN ON ONE THESE TRUCKS THAT HASN'T BEEN LOADED WITH FILLER AND PAINTED OVER. THERE IS NO RUST FROM TOP TO BOTTOM OTHER THAN A COUPLE LITTLE DOTS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAB CORNER. THE TRUCK AT ONE POINT WAS REPAINTED THE ORIGINAL COLOR AND HAS PLENTY OF "PATINA". UNFORTUNATELY THE PREVIOUS OWNER PASSED AWAY WHEN HE WAS GETTING THE TRUCK READY FOR PAINT. HE HAD THE BED PRIMED AND READY BUT THE REST OF THE TRUCK WAS HOW YOU SEE IT. I HAD THE PAINT MATCHED AND HAD THE BED AND TAILGATE PAINTED AND I COLOR SANDED AND BUFFED THE REST.
SINCE I BOUGHT IT I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL PUMP ALL THE FUEL LINES AND HAD THE CARB REBUILT. I HAD THE RADIATOR REBUILT AND PUT NEW PLUGS AND A NEW BATTERY IN IT. I HAD THE UPHOLSTERY DONE AND A CUSTOM HEADLINER MADE. IT IS SITTING ON THE ORIGINAL STEEL WHEELS WITH BRAND NEW FIRESTONE WHITE WALLS.
I HAD TO FIND GAUGES AND PUT THE WHOLE DASH BACK TOGETHER AND NOW ALL THE GAUGES WORK BUT THEY ARE USED 1947 GAUGES SO I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I WOULD TRUST THE ACCURACY. THE FUEL GAUGE WORKS BUT I NEED TO RUN THE SENDING UNIT WIRE BACK UP TO THE DASH. WHEN MY UPHOLSTERY GUY HAD THE TRUCK HE PULLED IT OUT BEFORE LAYING CARPET.
I DON'T HAVE THE TAIL LIGHTS ON YET BUT WILL BE GETTING TO THAT SOON.
OVERALL THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE FIRST LINE SAYS.......PERFECTLY IMPERFECT. IT IS A GOOD RUNNING, GOOD DRIVING TRUCK THAT YOU SURE DON'T SEE EVERYWHERE. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO LEAVE IT AS IT IS OR MAKE IT YOUR OWN. IT HAS A CLEAN ARIZONA TITLE. FEEL FREE TO CALL OR TEXT WITH ANY QUESTIONS
