Description:
1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
No reserve. PLEASE read the entire description before asking any questions.**This car is being sold with NO engine, from carburetor to oil pan. I did not have the original engine when I got this car. It had a 1970 engine installed years ago by the original owner, presumably because of a damaged/blown original engine. Unfortunately the original engine was lost to time and unknown as to where. The original owner has passed and no one else knew for sure exactly why the engine was swapped, and I don't have the 1970 engine to go with the car.**
It does however have the original Shaker assembly, alternator with correct harness, brackets and pulleys, original clutch fan assembly, motor mounts, the original and very hard to find radiator, and most other OEM parts to the car, including the original Ford Toploader 4-speed transmission(with partial matching VIN stamp), glass, trim, interior, etc.etc.
Please read the description, as I have tried to present this car as best as possible.
It was a one-owner car until last year, and has 43,327 original miles. T5 Candyapple Red, 3A Black Mach 1 interior. The seats are in good condition and can be carefully cleaned and used as-is, rather than reupholstered, if desired. A complete restoration of this Mach 1 will be required. It was intact and running/driving until this spring(2018), when it was carefully disassembled, bagged and tagged.
**The engine was removed and sold, as it was not date correct for this car.**
All other parts are present, and most can be restored/reused.
It will need front floors and small spot in rear seat area(rest of floor good), it must have had an aftermarket shifter at one time as the hole in the trans tunnel was made bigger, but the new pan will replace that; and front subframe rails just under footboard area will need replaced but the front rails going to the front of the car are good. Shock towers and inner fenders are solid. It will need the metal piece behind fuel tank, bottom corner of doors, and a few small spots in trunk area. The trunk and taillight panel are good, as is the entire roof and around all windows. The wheelhouses are intact, front and rear. The quarter panels were reported to have been replaced years ago, unknown why, but the original owner has passed away and his wife just doesn't know all the details. But the shop did an ok job if they were replaced.
The doors have never been off, and still close and latch well with a positive solid click/thunk. The deck lid is solid/very small amount of rust on the lower seam but very minimal. The quarter panel end caps are also good and original. It also comes with a new reproduction gas tank. The stainless rocker trim moldings are clean and in very good condition with no dents or dings and shine like almost new.
All glass is good and door windows work well up and down, wiring is all good, brakes good, trim is good including the drip rail trim which has not been removed, hinges and latches good, suspension good, steering good, bumpers and brackets, headlight and taillight assemblies, etc. but no fan shroud.
Here is a list of interest:
1969 Candyapple Red R-code 4-speed Cobra Jet Mach 1 with radio delete/not factory ordered.
-4 speed car with original RUG-AE2(Cobra Jet/Boss 429) transmission and shifter assembly with linkage. **Partial Vin is stamped on trans, and it matches**. I removed the cover and all looks good and clean inside. Gears, synchros, fluid and forks etc all good. The OEM gasket is still in place on the cover.
-3.25 Traction Loc option (R code Axle), current ratio etc and condition is unknown as I have not disassembled it or checked it. The original 9-inch axle is in place.
-Radio block-off as car was not optioned with a radio. The original block-off plate(extremely hard to find)and original front fender with no hole for an antenna are present. The build sheet confirms this.
- The Ram Air assembly is in good condition, but the air cleaner base is not original. The OEM scoop is very good with all OEM hardware and screws, the shaker seal is original. Flapper etc is too. Vacuum motor is there and holds vacuum/functions. Most of the rest is original to the car including the fan and fan clutch ass'y, alternator(tach option) with wiring harness, radiator(C8ZE-L1 and date code 8MA)which is in very good condition and very hard to find. All motor mounts, trans mounts, and all hardware. Engine pulleys, brackets etc included.-Black Mach 1 Comfortweave Deluxe interior, seats very good, door panels good(drivers side has a small crack in it about 4"), etc but will need carpet and headliner. Headliner is intact and tight but has a few small holes. The original carpet is there but worn. Original console is present and intact. Instrument cluster and clock "cove" are in good condition. Will need a new dash pad, this one is worn. All dash wiring is intact and uncut.
-Original tach dash is present with light Teak (3A) woodgrain. All matching "light Teak" on cluster, block off plate, cove, and console etc. The build sheet confirms the tachometer.
-All 5 chrome styled-steel wheels are present, 4 are dated 8MM and 1 is dated 8ML, with caps and trim rings.
-Power front disc brakes(factory optioned when new), brake booster etc are good and present.
-Basically all that is missing from this car is the engine, correct/original air cleaner base, original fuel tank(a new reproduction tank is included in the sale), and fan shroud.
-The best part is that you will not spend months or years tracking down a ton of parts needed. No need to search for any glass(all in exceptional condition), seats or seat frames, steering column and steering wheel, suspension, brake parts, wiring, a good and complete tach dash and alternator/wiring for the tach, driveshaft, bumper brackets, headlight buckets and hardware, taillight assemblies, complete R-code hood(in very good condition)with shaker trim ring and braces/brackets and hood latch, Ram-air scoop and parts(except for the correct base which is now available reproduced and considered concourse correct), front fenders(these are good to great), grille and all trim/hardware, valances, interior pieces and panels right down to the OEM screws, plastic interior pieces, clock, heater controls, visors, mirrors inside and out, windshield and back window trim(all excellent), keys and locks etc etc etc as it is all there.
-This was, for the most part, a complete and intact one-owner car until recently, not a junkyard buy.
-I have the clear Michigan title in the original owners wife's name, the original build sheet that is intact(found under the carpet), the original buck/build tag is still on the radiator core support, dash VIN plate, vin stamps on inner fenders present, original door tag present, date codes on sheetmetal, original keys, the Marti Elite and Deluxe Reports, and original window sticker that the original owner kept and is is laminated. The Elite Report includes much info and a copy of the window sticker, as well as a new door tag, and all were mounted in a very nice frame, sent directly from Kevin Marti. I have not ordered the Eminger/Marti factory copy invoice yet, nor have I registered it with the 428 Cobra Jet Registry.
It was almost without question a dealer-traded car, as the reports and window stickers show the ordering dealer is different than the selling dealer. Again, please see the Cobra Jet sites and/or contact Kevin Marti or any other trusted source.
Please bid with confidence as I have all of the listed items that are so very important to this very car, including the build sheet. Also, there were two identical build sheets present, in this car and for this car. There was also an S-code Mustang build sheet stacked with these build sheets, for a total of 3 build sheets. I will include this build sheet as it came with the car 50 years ago when it left Dearborn.
If the car is sold on this auction, I will include the 4 aluminum wheels and tires shown on the car in the pictures if you want them; they are older and worn but good for garage use. The car is now sitting on the original wheels with some good used tires on them.
I will also include the Cobra Jet books shown and the Mach 1 garage banner.
If you don't have 100% positive feedback, I will talk to Ebay, and reserve the right to cancel any bids. I just don't want any hassles with someone not following thru.
This is being sold as-is. NO exceptions.
A $1000.00 deposit, per paypal, is due immediately at auction end. Again, no exceptions. This is also a non-refundable deposit, so please be sure of your intentions. This is to insure a seamless deal.
Cash only when car is picked up. Please contact me after the auction if you are the winner and we can discuss pickup time and day.
Thank you for looking!
