1964 Ford Mustang Convertible Early Release

We're all on the lookout for a 1964.5 Ford Mustang convertible, but this is a standout amongst those rare few. With its interesting history, solid investments, and a tantalizingly low serial number, it's quite a distinctive icon that's up for grabs. Ford had a huge hit on its hands with the first-generation Mustang. It was an instant icon, and so when looking for the ultimate classic, you want the earliest example you can get that has both originality and rarity. That's what makes this one so appealing. You'll see the trim tag in the pictures that show a May 1964 production date and a seral number that's one of the lowest you're going to find for a while. The stampings around the body support this. Plus, with only around 28,830 convertibles produced during the short 1964.5 run, it's one of the rarest versions of the first-gen Mustang. The factory-correct Wimbledon White is a great way to represent this historic car. After all, a white droptop was used to debut the Mustang line, and the classic lacquer finish might make people ask if this is the one! Plus, you have nice performance-oriented details like the fog lights in the grille and styled steel wheels. The blue rocker stripes not only look sporty, but it goes nicely with the well-fitting blue convertible top. If you like the way the blue accents look against the exterior, then you'll love taking down the top and showing off the interior. Inside, the blue seats, blue carpets, blue door panels, and blue dash all coordinate so nicely with the exterior. Even the classic three-spoke sports steering wheel with the perfect thin grip is rendered in blue. Plus, the premium center console has nice black and silver elements that coordinates with the dash. It's a terrifically vintage atmosphere, right down to the AM radio that's still cranking out tunes. So this significant convertible really represents its history correctly. When you open the hood, the bright air topper and bold blue valve covers grab your attention, but it's what's beneath them that's really special. This is a F-code Mustang, which means it came from the factory with a 260 cubic-inch V8... and it's believed this is still the original engine under the hood today! Once the 1964.5 production switched over to 1965, this option was gone. So it's a cool piece of original history to have this still under the hood. That's why they invested in a complete mechanical rebuild of the V8. The restoration utilized as many correct parts as possible â€" right down to the generator. In fact, while this was upgraded with a four-barrel carburetor and aluminum intake for better performance, the original ones also come with the sale. You'll want to show off this cool collectable everywhere, and so it even has easy driving features like the three-speed automatic transmission. While the production history ensures it will remain rare forever, this droptop also has more history. It was originally purchased by the Bunn-O-Matic coffeemaker family and they kept it for decades.
