1940 FORD DELUXE CONVERTIBLE STREET ROD

This 1940 Ford Convertible was California car until several weeks ago. It was owned by the same family since 1973 (45 years).

It's a very sound, straight, rust free car with very shiny but older bright red paint.

It has a 1960's Chevy 327 cu in engine mated to the stock 1940 transmission and rear end. It's the desirable 327 with the double hump heads, a Weiand aluminum intake manifold and a Holley carburetor. It has the old timey Volvo front disc brakes. And Mustang wheels, which look quite good. The engine could easily be changed back to the Ford flathead because nothing was cut to install the engine. The car is all 12 volt now.

It hasn't been driven for the past 5 years and needs at least an engine tune-up and some brake work done. No attempt has been made to start the engine other than pull the plugs (which burned cleanly). The brake pedal goes to the floor.

The top irons and bows look to be complete (but no fabric top), including the vacuum actuators to raise and lower the top are all there.

A generous sized box of new (Bob Drake, etc) and used parts go along with the car.

I bought it on E-Bay about a month ago, had it shipped from San Diego, CA to Wilmington, DE in a closed car carrier. It's was such a great car when I bought it and it still is a great car now that I see It in person but the help I was counting on to do a lot of the work isn't available.

But I think I did do the area street rodders a favor by bringing such a solid car to the East Coast.
