1940 Ford Other
This 1940 Ford coupe is the perfect example of how to do it right. No outrageous colors, o radical body modifications, o fussy over-chromed engine, ust a classic color combination on a body style that honestly can't be improved. The dark green over tan color combination will never go out of fashion, smooth-running small block is still the best choice for a rod, nd it's fully sorted, o you can drive it home. As a southern car for most of its life, his Ford didn't need significant surgery to get it into the prime condition you see now, nd the guys who did the bodywork knew their stuff. Look at the reflections in the large door panel and you'll find that they're distortion-free and crystal clear. None of the gorgeous original styling has been altered, rom the V-shaped grille up front flanked by teardrop headlight housings, o the world's coolest taillights. Then there's that lovely hunter green paint, hich has an elegance to it that would work on a dead-stock restored car, oo, nd it was done only two years ago so it still looks amazing. This one stands apart by wearing all its original brightwork, ncluding shiny chrome bumpers and that traditional V-shaped grille and subtle hood ornament. In addition, he stainless has been polished, he running boards have been restored, nd the simplicity of the design is just as appealing today as it was 70 years ago. There's a reason why 1940 Fords are popular with hot-rodders and restorers alike, nd it isn't because they're ugly.If you're looking for an updated look inside without going over-the-top, here are few better choices than elegant tan upholstery especially when it's as well-executed as the interior of this Ford. The split front bench seat has been generously upholstered in tan vinyl that does a pretty darned good impersonation of leather without the maintenance headaches. The rear seat area now features a beautifully built enclosure for the entertainment system, ncluding the AM/FM/CD head unit and a full set of speakers. Auto Meter provided the gauges, hich have a simple, ncluttered look but include all the vitals, nd are housed in a very cleanly installed custom panel with a special tachometer pod up top. Upgrades include a tilt column with what appears to be the original steering wheel mounted on top, intage Air heat and A/C, nd full set of billet door handles and knobs. The coupe body style also offers a generous trunk that's been completely upholstered to match, o you won't be afraid to show it off.The pointed hood hides a Chevy 350 cubic inch crate motor that has been neatly crammed between the Ford's fat fenders. Finished with a cool finned aluminum dress-up kit, t also features a Weiand intake and Edelbrock carburetor, set of headers, nd a thick aluminum radiator up front keeping things cool. The accessories have been mounted tight to the block and service access is actually quite good despite the pointed hood and engine bay. It's beautifully finished and doesn't show much use at all. Underneath, t features a stock- style I-beam front suspension with power front disc brakes, hile the 4-speed manual gearbox feeds the power rearward to a GM 10-bolt with 3.55 gears inside. A burbling dual exhaust system cleverly uses a single muffler to save space, nd the polished Torque Thrust wheels with staggered blackwall radials are the perfect touch. If you want a great-running rod that'll never go out of style (and will therefore keep its value better than most), his Ford is for you. Expertly finished and full of wonderful tricks, his is a fresh build that could not possibly be duplicated for the asking price. Call today!
