1946 Ford Sedan Streetrod
Clean, simple, and to the point, this 1946 Ford Tudor is a great example of how to have fun on a budget. No wild graphics, no over-styled interior, and no finicky hardware, just a nice old Ford with 350 V8 power, appealing colors, and an interior that's nicer than the average rod. Fat fendered Fords are red hot right now, probably because they offer full-sized comfort and a ton of style. The wide grille is simple yet instantly recognizable, and the body is a slightly larger variation of the timeless 1940s look. This one was built some years ago and enjoyed like it should be out on the road, so there are signs of age and use in the bright red paint. Nonetheless, it still looks appealing and workmanship is good, so the doors fit well, the fenders are snug to the body, and the hood, which is always problematic on these cars. All the original trim is there, with the bumpers having been painted to match, but on a car like this, a few shiny parts make for great contrast, so the grille, side trim, window moldings, and neat emblem under the left headlight are all intact and in good condition. It's not a show car, but if you are the kind of guy who'd like a 70-year-old car to drive every day or an inexpensive way to get into the game, this is it. The interior features front buckets, custom door panels, and a full-width back seat so it's a legitimate 5-passenger vehicle. The tan tweed fabric looks upscale and feels like a million bucks, and thanks to careful maintenance, the interior remains in very usable condition. The door panels are simple and not over-wrought and comfort was a priority so the armrests are actually in the right place. Even the window garnish moldings were painted to match and blend in, which softens the interior and creates a unique look. Power windows, A/C (needs to be charged), and a decent AM/FM/cassette stereo provide the expected levels of comfort, making this a rod you can drive every day or cross-country on the Power Tour. The original gauges are joined by a quartet of aftermarket dials in a custom panel underneath the dash and the shifter is neatly integrated into the floor so it doesn't look like an afterthought. The sizable trunk is upholstered in simple gray carpet and matching side panels, and comes complete with a space-saver spare tire, just in case. For reliability and performance, nothing beats a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 topped by an Edelbrock intake and Holley 4-barrel carb. Chrome valve covers and a matching air cleaner give it a suitably hot rod look when you pop the hood, but it was clearly intended to be easy to service and drop-dead reliable on the road. A big aluminum radiator keeps it cool and the late-model Camaro subframe installation includes power steering and power front disc brakes, so handling is surprisingly modern. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end with highway gears inside. A great-sounding dual exhaust system was recently installed and it rolls on familiar Rally wheels painted red and fitted with 205/70/15 front and 235/75/15 rear whitewall radials. Sometimes simple is better, and this Ford delivers an affordable way to get into the game for not a lot of cash. Call today!Vehicle Details:
