1946 Mercury Pickup Truck Jailbar Flathead V8 Barn Find Patina NO RESERVE
1946 Ford Other Pickups
Please note that this is not the same truck as the one listed last week - we purchased two together. The first was a 1947 and this is a 1946.1946 Mercury One Ton Pickup Truck. The first year for Mercury trucks making it very collectable. A solid barn find truck in beautiful all original condition. A very good candidate for a full restoration. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.Contact must be made within 24 hours of the auction ending or it will be assumed that you have no intention of honoring your bid and the truck will be offered to others. Zero Feedback bidders must make contact prior to bidding.
It has a very solid body for an un-restored truck of this era. The floorboards are in excellent condition. The fenders are completely rust free as are the running boards. The only rust issues that I have found are the passengers cab corner and typical minor rusting on the bed sides. All easily repaired. It has very nice patina and all original paint. There is no bondo in this truck, it is exactly as Ford built it. Most impressive is the lack of dents, I don't believe this truck did much work or it was very well taken care of as all fenders are in incredible condition. The drivers door has a small dent but that is it. It only has 64,860 original miles on it. The Mercury tailgate does not have a hole cut for a grain shoot which is very unusual on a One Ton pickup of this era. These tailgates are incredibly rare and seldom found in this condition. Also very unusually and very fortunately a dump bed set up has not been fitted to this truck so the bed sits at the correct factory height which is rarely seen on One Ton pickups of this era. All Mercury specific emblems are present and in good shape as is the Mercury specific grille. Very importantly all four of the very rare Mercury hubcaps are present, as well as a fifth on the spare. Overall this is a very good all original and solidexample of a One Ton 46 Mercury pickup.
The interior is complete less the glove box door. The Mercury script on the dashboard is present and the interior is ingood condition for its age. I will very likely be able to source a glove box door in the correct color for the buyer before the truck is collected.
Mechanically this truck is complete with its original Flathead V8. It hasn't ran in many years but nothing is missing. All tires hold air. It rolls and steers freely.
This will make a great project and is a far nicer starting point than many of the barn finds that we sell due to being 100% original and complete with very minimal rust issues. Seldom do we find these very rare un-restored Mercury trucks from 46/47 in such solid and complete shape. Bid with confidence and feel free to message with any questions. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.
Due to the much smaller Canadian market, Ford of Canada only sold approximately one tenth as many trucks as Ford did in the US and around two thirds of those were Ford's leaving the remaining third to be Mercury's. So very few of these trucks were produced and it is becoming much harder for us to source nice original and complete examples such as this. Due to Canada's harsh climate only a handful remain today.
If you would like a shipping quote please message us. We can assist in arranging shipping for you as we have several reliable contacts that we have used before many times to ship our vehicles all over the country and they are all very familiar with loading and hauling this type of vehicle.
If you are buyer outside of the US, then please read our section below, titled 'Shipping' so that you understand what your options are.

We are two brothers who seek out original trucks and cars from all across Canada, specializing in vehicles from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
Most American barn finds have long since been found and tampered with by multiple owners; North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good, solid, original vehicles, waiting to be brought back to life.
We make thesevehicles available to the US market by taking care of importation and providing all paperwork required to obtain a ClearUS Title, in your name and home State.
We are passionate about finding the best there is and understand that our customers wantto see automobiles that have not been tampered with; The more original, the better.
Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specific that you are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help.
The business we conduct is straightforward and honest. Whether you're looking for something that'sall original, a starting point for a restoration project or the bones for a custom build, Bison Brothers are here to help.
