Description:
1933 Ford Standard 5W Coupe
1933 Ford standard 5W Coupe, very nice and straight California body, with a lot of documented SoCal history. Appears to have been sold new in California and was registered there until at least 1954 or so. It was owned in the 1953-54 time frame by a Corporal in the United State Marine Corps station at USMC Air Station El Toro in the Santa Ana area. He was in SOS-1, (Station Operations Squadron), and a member of the Crash Crew, responsible for responding to airplane fires and emergencies on base. There's an old Veedol sticker in the door jamb that shows an oil change at around 67,487 miles on Sept. 4, 1952, at Bill Gasper Associated Service in Long Beach, CA.The car also came with an old leather folding key pouch with an original key to the car, a key to the locking gas cap, an old skeleton key and a P-38 military-issue can opener that is dated 1951. Everything you see on it is from the period and was done back in the day: the filled top, old red oxblood interior on seats and door panels and rumbleseat, original 1933 headliner and other trim, nice original '33 engine turned dash insert and gauges, a few extra holes in the firewall due to the master cylinder and battery mounted it but uncut firewall otherwise, '40 flathead V8, '40 juice brakes, '36 transmission, '48 wheels, '41 hubcaps. The only things recently added since it was discovered in a Wisconsin barn: 3.54 gears replaced the 4.11s in the original '33 rearend, rebuilt the carb and master cylinder, added a single Smitty muffler to the stock exhaust, recently rebuilt front end including steering box, currently registered in NY, but comes with the California black plates from 1953. The grille that was on it was kind of rough and painted over so I replaced it with a very nice, original 1933 grille.
For sale by owner, as-is, where-is, in Cassadaga, NY, no warranty expressed or implied. Original mileage unknown, just had to enter something in that field. Please come see it before you buy if you want. It's a solid, but 85 year old car that has never been restored, just kept going as a driver, mostly daily transportation up until the late 1950s or 1960s. It was bought out of a Wisconsin barn back around 2010 and was made driveable and has just been enjoyed since. If seriously interested, please call Randy at 512.560.9002 or the owner Tom at 716.237.2020.
