Description:

1989 Ford Ranger "Lightning"

IF in 1989 Ford had made a "Lightning" model of the Ranger.....this is what it could have been like.
You start with a really straight 1989 Ford Ranger GT, dress it in a clear over black paint job (just done), new front bumper that has been smoothed, and a Genuine Ford Lightning tube style rear bumper. Drop it 3 inches, add 18 x 8 Colorado Custom Billet wheels wrapped with Yokohama skins, and blacked out billet grill. Top the bed with a hard bed cover, and now you have low, sleek and fast.
Did I say fast? You bet, take a SVT Mustang 5.0 HO out of a 1995 Saleen with less than 10 miles on it. Pump it up with a Ford Performance cam w/288 degrees and 512 lift hydraulic roller. Bigger intake and injectors, and ported & polished heads, MSD ignition and ignition controller to handle the boost from the Vortech Supercharger. Pump that through Total Performance headers, and 2 1/2" pipes that give voice to the Flowmaster mufflers. Bringing up the rear is a Borg Warner 5 speed tranny that flows the power to a Ford 8.8" with 3.73 gears w/Aurburn posi. She Will Move!!!
By the way.....you bring things to a stop with with power 4 wheel disc brakes that have cross drilled rotors.
The Interior is really nice......1995 Ranger Splash bucket seats and Console, the console being shortened 10 inches. the custom door panels match the bucket seats perfectly. All done in gray shades that goes with the black exterior nicely. And sounds are provided by a Sony AM/FM, CD radio w/separate Alpine amp and 4 speakers.
Just a few other things........Power steering, Air conditioning, custom Carbon Fiber dash inserts, Colorado Custom steering wheel and rear view mirror, 1" front sway bar, Total Performance radiator w/electric fans, and much, much more that goes into making this great build. With the exception of the new paint and body work, most of the work was finished in April of 1999 or 19 yrs ago with only approximately 15,000 miles on the drive train. This truck has spent most of it's life as a show queen, always being garaged as long as I've had it. She had appeared in 2 Truck magazines back in 1999, but has a different look, which I've changed.
