ECONOLINE HISTORY-
This 1964 Ford Econoline pickup is 1 of 988 made. It is the 5 window series. There were 2 body codes for this year of pick up, 87A and 87B. 87A was the 3 window series which Ford made 4,196 models. 87B is the 5 window series which is listed in this listing. Ford only made 988 models of the 87B custom series. Some of them had bumpers and some didn't. The models that didn't have rear bumpers allowed the truck to be used for pick up and deliveries making it easy to load and unload easier with the tail gate being able to swing down at a 180 degrees. Some models came with a 3 speed transmission. An upgrade option was the 4 speed transmission. My truck I am selling comes with a 4 speed on the tree.
TRUCK HISTORY -
I purchased this truck from a gentleman here in Montana that has owned it for the last 40+ years. I am the 3rd owner of this truck. He kept it in his barn with the intention of restoring it, but had way to many cars and never got around to this one. He kept it running and didn't let it decay. It was in excellent shape given the age and what these trucks look like normally before they are restored. It had some surface rust here and there, but nothing cancerous. I was amazed when I started to dig into it to find out this Econoline is 100% stock. If you appreciate classic cars as much as me then you understand that stock is extremely rare these days. Mainly because parts can become obsolete and if you don't have the parts then your hand is forced to make it custom and not original. This pickup still even has the original generator which was just rebuilt at $600.
WORK COMPLETED -
I wanted to bring this truck back to it's original look. The colors are a 2 tone from Ford's 1962-1967 color chart. I chose to make this truck look beachy. I surf and of course there is nothing better then driving down the road and seeing vintage vehicles with surfboards on them or hanging out of them. This truck was sand blasted and treated with Por 15 on all bare metal spots. It was then primed and painted with a single stage paint. All windows were removed so we could seal behind the window seals allowing a great adhesion. All window seals are brand new. Same with door seals. Cab floor was treated with a marine rubber texture to produce a low maintenance surface and help with road noise. Engine hood was coated with premium line-x to help with acoustics around the engine. Since it is sitting right next to you. I figured I would help reduce road noise. Seats have been re-upholstered with a light cream leather. Truck bed has been coated with same marine rubber as the cab floor. Dash is painted the same color as front bumper and roof. The wheels of course are not original but these wheels make this truck come to life. They are a smoothie wheel with body color painted between chrome wheel and chrome hub cap. Hub Caps have FORD written on them. I can't think of anything else to write about my truck I have named "GPA" so below is a bullet point list of everything that has not been talked about already. I have put only 50 miles or so on it since it has been restored.
  • Generator rebuilt
  • Carburator rebuilt
  • New spark wires & plugs
  • New air filter
  • New valve cover gasket
  • All bearings greased
  • Front & rear pinion seals replaced
  • Everything has been greased
  • New Brakes
  • Shift mechanism has been serviced here at Flathead Transmission
  • Flushed transmission
  • Rear differential gasket replaced and new oil added

After all the good now time for the bad. It's not that bad but I want to be honest and share with you what doesn't work. If I forget something, forgive me. But I am pretty sure this is everything. These issues didn't bother me all that much, but everyone is different.
-Gas gauge does not read correctly. I carry a jerry can with me to be safe.-Engine temp gauge does not work. A very simple fix
Please call or email with any questions. I will not respond to texts.

I am wanting to sell to someone who appreciates it's rare value. So if you are looking for a deal then I am sorry to say this is the wrong vehicle for you.
