1953 Ford Victoria

Customized in 1953/1954

1953 Ford Victoria restyled by Clarkaiser Custom Shop for Frank and Charles Gilardone. Clarkaiser fit the car with a unique 1953 Ford Meteor grille assembly. The headlights were frenched and modified with handmade sheet-metal shades. Teeth from the upper bumper of a 1953 Mercury were installed inside the scoop in the hood. The front bumper was relieved of all trim. The taillight shades were also hand formed out of sheet metal. The rear license plate was inset into the rear deck panel. For a smooth look, the bumper guards were removed from the rear bumper. The top was chopped 2.5 inches . The restyling took place around 1953-1954. In 1955 the car was exhibited at FORD's own rod and kustom show at the Rotunda auditorium in Dearborn, Michigan.[1]This version of the car was painted black.[4] The car was also shown at the Rotunda in 1956. By then it had been painted silver.[5]

This car has a lot of verifiable history, and has been in many magazines in the 1950's. Truly a one of a kind custom, and I'm selling it with NO RESERVE. Regrettably I need a parking space...

This car is one of the few out there that is TRULY a historic survivor with tons of verifiable history. Just google "Clarkaiser Custom 1953 Ford", and it will pop right up. It was customized when it was essentially brand new, and then Ford actually paraded it around at their car shows.

It had an amazing amount of custom work done to it, including the chopped top which really sets the car off. The interior is in amazing shape for its age, and its also a really great part of the car. To the best of my knowledge it was repainted in the original black style in the late 1970's or 1980's. The paint is far from perfect, but it's a survivor car..... most folks who have seen it think it should be left as is, but if you wanted it super nice, it will need a paint job. Chrome and stainless are in similar condition. If you want it perfect, it will need some replating or polishing.

Mechanically everything is good to my knowledge. I just spent a lot on it to get it all up to par.

Doors and trunk open with electric poppers.
