1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Fastback 302 V8 4 Speed Manual Classic Vintage Collec
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302
Here is a rare opportunity to buy a very rare car. It was built to meet the homologation rules for the Trans Am racing series in 1969 and 1970. This car is one of the 1,628 '69s built. There has been a resurgence of interest in these original cars since the revival of the name by Ford for another two-year run recently, so if you have ever had the desire to own one, now would be a good time to... take action. The car came to be named the "Boss" Mustang when Larry Shinoda, who was designing this car as a secret project, referred to it as "the bosses car" when asked about what he was working on. Up front, one of the signature features of the Boss optioned cars is the large front spoiler. These '69s had a four-headlight system with the two extra lights set into the blacked-out grill, which also has a galloping Pony on red, white and blue stripes badge. On the side, a bold C stripe starts on the front fender with Boss 302 in script and tapers off at the rear fender along the top and continues all the way to the back of the car along the rocker. The fake air scoops on the side of regular production Mustangs were eliminated on the Boss cars, and the rear deck wing was added to generate some downforce at racing speeds. The inside of this car is spectacular. It is an upgraded woodgrain interior, which is correct for this car, and there are no rips or stains or anything out of place in it. Open the door and you will get your first view of the wood which appears on the door panel trimmed with thin chrome piping. There is a black three spoke steering wheel which is leather wrapped and has a Mustang emblem in the center. Wood continues on the dash, surrounding the engine gauges which includes the tachometer with its impressive 7000 rpm redline. Two auxiliary white faced Autometer gauges are mounted in the center just above the radio and ventilation controls, and there is a unique white shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission in the center console. The high back bucket seats have black "knit" vinyl that has deep pleats sewn into the center sections with the edges trimmed in smooth vinyl. The back seats and even the console get the same knitted treatment and look fantastic. Open the hood and you will find the famous "G code" Boss 302 motor rated at 290 Horsepower nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. A chrome air topper announces the engine with a 302 4V Boss decal. Finned aluminum valve covers sit on top of free-breathing, Cleveland style heads which help it make big power thanks to much larger valves than most engines of its displacement. Long tube headers let the engine breathe out, and along with a solid lifter cam, all those parts combine to let this motor spin up to that 7000 rpm redline. But the Boss option involved more than just a motor. We already mentioned the wing and spoiler aerodynamic aids that were part of the package. Add to that a lowered ride height with heavy duty springs and spindles along with reinforced shock towers and larger sway bars that keep it cornering flat. Power 4-wheel disc brakes provide the stopping power needed to slow this Pony back down from speed and the car sits on Magnum 500 wheels with 235/60R15 tires at all four corners. If you have ever thought about owning one of these cars, here's your chance to buy one. But hurry down to check it out, because there just aren't that many of them out there and you don't want to miss your opportunity.
