1964 Ford Fairlane 500 THUNDERBOLT - 427 VINTAGE
Up for auction is what I believe to be a 1964 Rebodied Ford Thunderbolt. This car has all the lightweight components that they came with back when they were built (aluminum front bumper, fiberglass fenders/hood, plexiglass fixed rear windows, no armrests, etc.).This car was featured in October 2016 issue RPM magazine, pages 24-36, I'll post a link below that you can copy and paste into your search bar.

I bought the car off the guy in the magazine, the mystery of the car attracted me to it and I planned on putting in the research to learn the full history of it. I bought it originally to keep forever but since I bought it I've taken on another business and haven't invested any time into it and I hate to see it just sit in my garage. The story is this car was built after a Thunderbolt was wrecked at the track in the 60's, the original parts were put on this car and any damaged parts were sourced from DST (Detroit Steel Tubing), if you do some research you'll find that DST tubbed and caged several of these cars after they were wrecked, unfortunately I don't have the VIN of the original car and some people along the way involved with the car have passed away.
Since there is no original VIN Thunderbolt here, you're buying a 64 Ford Fairlane with lightweight parts on it (the aluminum front bumper is probably worth more than the starting bid because you can't find any available and they never reproduced them).
The car itself is solid and nice, been garaged, the 427 FE side oiler was refreshed and has very low time on it (I have the paperwork from the machine shop), still has the 13.5:1 compression ratio and sounds like an animal, C6 trans and narrowed 9" rear. It's a pretty cool car and quite the conversation piece.
The car is located in North West Virginia, the car can be picked up or shipped at the expense and arrangement of the buyer, I will help as much as I can.
