Affordable, op-down fun, his 1963 Ford Falcon is the daily-driver hobby car. A little rain won't scare it, he thrifty six-cylinder engine is easy on the gas, nd nobody else will even guess just how affordable it really is.This is not a perfect car, ut it does have a lot of charm. You might remember Brad Pitt driving a similar car at the end of "Ocean's Eleven" and though it had a few signs of age, t was ultra-cool. That's the attitude this little blue convertible offers. No apologies for living a full life and ready to go on to the next adventure without hesitation. So if you're a guy who doesn't do shows and trophies and just wants a cool car that doesn't need fussing, his is it. The blue paint presents well, ut since it was done a few years ago, ou don't have to worry about being the guy who puts the first nick in it. The bodywork underneath is in good order, ith doors that fit well and close without a major slam, nd the Mustang's little brother does look rather dashing with that hood scoop and cool fender-top ornaments. Mini Galaxie taillights continue the Ford look and the Futura model represented the top-of-the-line in 1963, o there's a bit of extra trim to make it sparkle. The grille is in decent shape, he bumpers shine up nicely, nd the white body side moldings show off good panel alignment. The white interior appears to be largely original and in good condition overall, gain perfect for just jumping in with some friends and heading out on the road. The vinyl bench shows pleated details but no splits or tears, o it has a '60s sensibility without looking beat up and the black carpets provide welcome contrast to the otherwise light-colored environment. The instrument panel and steering wheel are in great shape for being more than 50 years old now and the 3-on-the-tree transmission makes it fun to drive. The factory AM radio is still in the dash, ut in order to preserve originality and still have great music, n AM/FM/CD stereo head unit was neatly installed under the dash with speakers neatly installed in the rear side panels. The door panels are a little tired but still usable as-is and the trunk is nicely outfitted with a mat and a full-sized spare tire. There's also a power convertible top that fits rather well and has a clear plastic rear window.The 170 cubic inch inline-six is a good choice in the lightweight Falcon, ith peppy road manners around town and good fuel economy. It's been brightened up with a fresh coat of Ford Blue paint and an original air cleaner painted red, nd it really stands out in the otherwise all-black engine bay. It's pretty clean in there, uggesting a car that's been well-maintained, nd with the 3-speed manual transmission (powered with a brand new clutch), t's a willing powerplant that goes about its business without a lot of fussing. The underside is likewise in good order and mostly original, ith a single exhaust system for a period-correct six-cylinder grumble. 175/80/13 whitewall radials are affordable and ride well and are fitted with full-face wheel covers that remain in great condition.This little Falcon convertible has proven to be quite reliable and goes down the road just like you'd expect, aking it a great choice as an entry-level hobby car.
