BACKGROUND: The first postwar cars were eagerly anticipated, and the '46 Ford did not disappoint. Freshened from 1941 with a new grill and widened hood - it was a welcome sight on the American road after suspension of car production to support the war effort. This car is remarkably similar to the 1947 Ford convertible so memorably featured in the 1984 Karate Kid movie.

RESTORATION OBJECTIVE: As experienced classic car collectors well know, there are many levels of restoration with a wide variety of objectives in mind. If you are looking for the perfect/near perfect car to trailer to shows and never drive...this is not the car for you. Rather, this car was restored to be lightly driven and enjoyed on the modern road. It is a very good looking car...and to see it go by, you'd likely say that it looks near-new in appearance. Upon close inspection however, you will note signs of age and use throughout. Please expect paint chips, some dimples here and there on trim items, and some areas where the paint is rough or cracked - as well as other signs of wear and imperfection consistent with a 72-year old vehicle (including window issues shown and explained in images at left). Please be sure to examine ALL 150+ images...most will show how nice the car is, but many will show examples of imperfections that you should expect.

LOCATION: Gainesville, GA...whichis located approximately 60-miles from Atlanta.

EXCELLENT INVESTMENT - the early postwar cars are fondly remembered for the new sense of hope and optimism that followed the war. They were hard to get - and therefore cherished. Without a doubt, this '46 Ford Super Deluxe convertible is one of the handsomest cars to begin emerging from Detroit in late 1945. Very few survive, making this nice example all the more desirable and sought-after.

THE FIRST 12 PICTURES will give you a general overview of the Ford Super Deluxe convertible, but if you are seriously interested...we suggest that you look at ALL 150+ images because we want you to see EVERYTHING. Simply "scroll down" to see the pictures.

Over 3,000 TRANSACTIONS WITH HAPPY PEOPLE! As of the date of this listing, we've had over 3,000 transactions (both Buying and Selling) on eBay without a single complaint. One of the keys to our success is to show larger and more images than almost any other eBay listing...so you can clearly see what you are getting. We also give a very detailed description of the car...not just a couple sentences like many listings.
QUESTIONS?...after reviewing ALL the images and reading the entire description, please call Jim Murphy if you have any questions: 706-429-7924

OPERATIONAL REPORT: The car is a joy to drive, the Offenhauser heads and manifold - along with the twin Strombergs - increase performance dramatically from the original equipment. Modern disc brakes give you confidence in today's traffic too. All external lighting is operational, as are the horn and electric wipers. The power top is a bit slow, but got the job done during the photo-session. The original ignition has been bypassed in favor of a key ignition under the dash (please see image). All gauges on the modernized gauge-pack are operational.

Non-operational items that we know of: radio, clock, heater, and driver's vent window (needs new gear).

ODOMETER NOTE...the 06982 mileage indicated is, of course, not the vehicle's actual mileage. Due to the design limitations of odometers of this era, accurate mileage since new cannot be known.

PAYMENT DETAILS: Payment is due within 2- business days of auction's end via Bank to Bank wire transfer.

INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS are welcome, but MUST adhere to the SAME Payment Terms detailed above and also make all arrangements for the pick-up and importation of the Vehicle into the Buyer's country.
ABOUT ME: I am an avid Classic Car enthusiast. After retiring from 30 years of Sales & Marketing in a Global 100 company, I began buying and selling Classic Cars and Collectibles as a collector and for friends and clients. This 1946 Ford belongs to a fellow classic car enthusiast.
Please Note: as of this date, we have had over 3,000 eBay transactions with 100% Positive Feedback...this includes the sale of many Classic Cars to Buyers all over the world, including Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Australia, Russia, Canada, Japan and throughout the United States.
IMPORTANT DOCUMENT & CONDITION OF SALE REMARKS: A Bill of Sale and the Vehicle Registration will be provided to the Buyer. NOTE: the State of Georgia did not issue auto titles back in 1946 - and so they do not do so for those cars even today! Instead, the registration card has a "Non-Title" notation and also serves as the owners legal proof of ownership. Rest assured that every state must respect all other state's motor vehicle laws, and that the car can be successfully registered and insured in any state.

This Vehicle is sold strictly as-shown and on a final as-is basis without any warranties expressed or implied due to age. Even the very best restored classics will require additional maintenance and service - often without warning. Therefore, please expect to continue - as the new owner and caretaker of this classic - to perform additional maintenance and repairs. We hope that you are able to enjoy the car without the need for an immediate repair - but understand that this indeed could be found necessary. As seasoned collectors know, every time you start (or attempt to start) a classic car is a new experience...it could be a wonderful ride, or a new repair to undertake. That is the nature of the hobby, and this car (or any classic car) should not be purchased if you are not prepared for this reality. We have presented the car accurately to the best of our ability, but oversights are possible. Therefore - before the auction's end - bidders are welcome to examine the vehicle in person. All sales are final.

Because this car is only lightly driven locally - and is untested for long trips - we recommend that it be transported to its new locale.

Finally, we remind you to be sure to review ALL the images and ALL the captions for this classic, at the leftbecause - in addition to this description - they relate important information too!
