Description:

1957 Ford Thunderbird

It's not too late to cruise the open road this summer, in this clean and reliable American Classic!

This a clean, and reliable 1957 Ford Thunderbird in Flame Red with Black & White interior, equipped with a white factory hardtop and white vinyl soft top on a factory frame w/swing arm.

Since purchasing the car 16 years ago, I have made extensive cosmetic and mechanical upgrades and repairs, making sure the car is reliable to drive and nice to look at. Unlike most cars of this age, ALL the electrics work except for the clock and the Town & Country radio. The car was fitted with radial tires in 2011, and all five have very little tread wear. The odometer now reads 99,8XX, and in the time I have owned the car I have put approximately 7,100 miles on the car.

I have always had the car garaged and covered, and have never driven it in the rain or when the streets are wet. It is in very nice mechanical and cosmetic condition, not a Concours car but a very nice driver quality vehicle, with very nice luster in the paint and chrome. The car has won awards at several local car shows. The steel X-frame and side rails are solid! Review the photos, especially the undercarriage and engine bay, to see how clean this car is.

Some of the highlights are as follows:

·"D" model Thunderbird with factory hardtop and soft top frame/swingarm and Fordomatic automatic transmission.

·The engine starts easily and runs within the normal temperature range, even in these hot NC summers. Oil pressure is excellent as evidenced by a gauge mounted under the dash.

·All electricals (except clock and radio) work including head and tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, interior courtesy light, dash lights, heater motor, fuel & temp gauges, and "idiot" lights.

·The engine compartment has the "Dress Up" kit and is nicely detailed.

·Heater and defrost cables/levers are in good working order. Fresh air ducts under the fenders have working flapper valves. Vacuum-operated wipers are in good working order.

·The seat was professionally recovered and is in excellent condition.

·The vinyl soft top was replaced three years ago.

·The body/paint has typical scratches and blemishes for a car its age that was not fully restored.

·The engine has run on ethanol-free fuel the last four years.

Under my ownership I replaced many components including a full exhaust system, fuel tank and lines, recored radiator, seat foam and vinyl, carpet, radial tires, fuel pump, carburetor, and complete brake system. I have virtually every receipt documenting the parts I installed.

I would be happy to provide additional details that I can about the car and will respond to any inquiries as quickly as possible. There are about 35 other photos that can be provided to serious buyers. Included with the sale is a variety of spare parts and about $300 in manuals if the buyer wants them.

The car has a clean NC title and is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty express or implied. The winning bidder will pay a $500 deposit within 48 hours via PayPal, with the remainder due within 7 days in the form or cash, certified/cashier's check, or direct wire transfer. Any check will have to clear before the car will be released for transport. The buyer is responsible for transport, although I can help on my end if possible.

This auction is only open to bidders in the U.S. This car is advertised locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.
