Description:

1966 Ford Mustang Convertible

This is a very special car in several different ways. In the first place, it is an Emberglo exterior with Emberglo and Parchment pony interior. This is one of the most highly desirable color combinations there is for a Mustang. The problem is that this combination was only made in 1966. As a result, this car is a very sought-after car. When we were detailing the underside of the car, we found something we have not found in years! We found Factory overspray under the car. This made us take much longer to restore the underside as we did not want to disturb the factory overspray. I cannot tell you how rare this is! You can clearly see it in the pictures and you can easily see it in person.

This Mustangs DSO Is Memphis, Tennessee. But, from what I am told it arrived in the California-Oregon region quickly after it was sold. This is what I'm certain of; The man that I purchased the car from had it for almost 5 years and the person he purchased it from had it for almost 35 years. So, there is 40 years right there. Both owners indicated that the mileage was original and that it was almost 93,000 miles. Obviously, this is the reason that it is in the great condition it is in now, especially under the car. Look at the underside pictures closely and you can see how great the underside looks. The undersides of the doors are great also, as you can see.

Another big plus on this car is the number of options it has and what they are. They are as follows:

  • ·Optional V/8 motor with 4 BBL added later with Ford Intake
  • ·Automatic Transmission
  • ·Power Steering
  • ·Factory Disc Brakes
  • ·Pony Interior
  • ·Air Conditioning - that works!
  • ·Console (was not part of Deluxe Pony Package)
  • ·Remote Outside Mirror
  • ·Day/Night Rearview Mirror
  • ·Power Top with Glass Back Window
  • ·And finally ...... Desert Cooler 4 row radiator (Very rare option)

I actually did research on this radiator as I had never heard of one. It was a factory option. Normally the biggest radiator you could get was a 3 core on an A/C car. Regular V/8's without A/C came with 2 core radiators. So, you can see how special and rare this option is. It also has a bigger and more efficient fan shroud too Just that alone makes This a very rare car; Not counting the other where options like pony interior, console, disc brakes and all the other options it has. Then consider that it is an Emberglo car with the special Emberglo parchment Pony Interior and this car is incredibly rare and desirable! This car looked so good that I could not resist buying a brand-new set of Style Steel Wheels and new tires. It even looks better now!!

In addition to purchasing new Style Steel Wheels and tires, we also purchased the NEW following parts:

  • ·Battery
  • ·Deluxe Steering Wheel
  • ·Battery Cover
  • ·A/C Vents
  • ·Concours Hose Set
  • ·Deluxe Instrument Bezel
  • ·A/C Decal
  • ·Decal Kit
  • ·Stripes
  • ·Correct Pony Carpet for Emberglo Cars
  • ·Horn Caps
  • ·Reverse Lights
  • ·Rear Bumper Guards
  • ·Emergency Brake Spring
  • ·Battery Cables
  • ·Spark Plug Wires
  • ·Spark plugs
  • ·Carb Gasket
  • ·Convertible Kick Panels

Normally when we get a special car like this, we have a tendency to go overboard on it. That is certainly true of this car. We have spent over $2,500 on this car and parts alone and a tremendous amount of labor that I really do not want to add up right now. Could possibly make me sick!

We have totally detailed the engine compartment, underside of the car, trunk compartment and brought up the interior with different items to make it better; including new Deluxe Steering Wheel which cost $300. I hope you see something special that I took a picture of and that was the Battery OK Sticker. It is stamped like it was when it was new, not like most people have; if they have one at all.

It cost me a great deal of money to buy this car. Then cost almost $2,000 in transportation fees to transport it from Northern California to Texas. So, my initial cost was great, but, I knew I must have this car!!

Just to give you an idea how long an engine detail like this takes to do, I did the engine compartment on my personal "K" Code Fastback just to see. I know this is hard to believe if you have never done it, but it took a little over 60 hours.

I hope you can see all the work and new parts that have put on this already fantastic car; and how expensive this work can be! If you look at the pictures closely, you will see a location where you can go to see over 50 additional pictures of this beautiful Convertible. Do not hesitate to email or call me if you have any questions. Remember if you are going to have it inspected (which I recommend), please do so before for the auction is over. It is not a trailer queen, but it will sure cause a stir at any car show!

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION AT ANY TIME IN THAT THE CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY.
