1939 Ford Standard Tudor Sedan

1939 Ford "Standard" Tudor Sedan.
This is an excellent running and driving old Ford. 85 HP, 24 stud, 221 cubic inch flathead with 3 speed transmission. Steers with one finger! My wife drives it with ease! Just came back from a 200 mile trip in Georgia heat, temp gauge stayed 182-185 degrees! Owned and cared for by a long time Early Ford V8 Club member and I've had it for the last 2 years or so; I'm in the Early Ford V8 Club myself. I'll probably regret selling it...
All lights, gauges, wipers, heater, horns, etc. work as designed. Hard to find 39 and 40 Ford hot water heater with multi-speed and multi-direction fan; it will run you out in the winter! Windshield rolls in and out as designed. Front and rear side windows roll up/down as designed with the additional Ford touch of rotating back several inchers for the "smokersâ€. Some of the glass is original and some is replacement.
Engine runs good with no strange noises. Carries 20+ psi oil pressure on HOT days, more in cold days and shorter trips. Trans shifts good and doesn't "jump" out of second gear like so many old cars do. Rear end has no noise. Brakes stop fine and don't pull to one side. No crazy smoking, dripping, leaking, etc. The factory temp gauge works, I just hung the sender under the dash and added the aftermarket unit to see real temps rather than lines (factory gauge can be easily re-installed).
Previous owner had recently replaced front floor mat, water pumps, fuel pump, fan belt, hoses, headliner (LeBaron Bonney), and had it buffed.
Since I've owned it, I have:
Gotten all lights and blinkers working
Replaced oil pressure gauge with NOS unit
Added secondary electric fuel pump (used for priming if you don't drive it for several months)
NAPA front and rear tube shocks
Front and rear wheel cylinders and master cylinder
Replaced main wiring harness and lighting wiring harness
Installed Optima 6V battery
Dropped oil pan, cleaned out "sludgeâ€; engine is clean on inside and I run 15W40 detergent oil.
Added seatbelts
Changed rear end and trans fluid
Just installed new Coker 6.00x16 Firestone bias ply tires/tubes/balancing; sandblasted/painted wheels
I have receipts from engine being rebuilt in late seventies and picture of car being painted in the nineties. Pictures tell the story of condition better than words.
I included pictures showing a patch in the driver's floor (top and bottom photos), a spot over the passenger door where the person buffing it stayed in one spot too long (it's really not noticeable unless looking for it), a spot in the spare tire well, and a bubble in the paint on the drivers rear fender (it's been like this since I got it and hasn't gotten worse). It's missing one piece of interior trim and the driver's side interior door handle is from a 39 deluxe, not a standard.
This car is a blast to drive; I just have too many old cars and thinning my herd. It's a great car to enjoy now during cruising season and doesn't really need anything in my opinion. My kids love it. It's a nice five foot car; crowd pleaser at the local shows and cruise-in's. I've had folks walk past nicer cars to check this thing out!
If you are local, inspections are welcome. GA is a bill of sale only state for cars this old (they will not issue titles); I can provide valid state registration (tag receipt) and bill of sale. No out of country sales. $500 deposit due within 48 hours; balance in cash at time of pick-up. I can hold car for up to two weeks. I will work with your shipper to assist with loading. Check with spouse, friends, bank, etc. to see if its ok BEFORE you bid. Less than 10 feedback are subject to bid cancellation without contacting me first. If you are in the Southeast I might be able to deliver for extra fee if needed. God Bless America and Support Our Troops.
