1969 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK / SPORTSROOF
Comes with Marti Report and Original Sales Documents
This car doesn't need a full restoration to be a nice driver condition car... Here are some of my notes on it:
This fastback was painted about 4 years ago. The paint lays nice with two small runs as I've documented in the linked photos. It is a good driver quality car with a lot of original parts, including the engine (with 9T02 stamped on the back of the block). It starts and runs well with a light engine knock only when it's fully warmed. The knock goes away if you increase RPM. Expect to give it an oil pump and bearings. (I'm including a link to a few videos to document this as well.) The transmission markings are RAT AM 026072 (I don't know what to look for to verify that this is the original transmission that came with the car, but it is a 3-speed as it originally came with per the Marti Report.)The clutch will need replacement... it doesn't slip, but it releases all the way at the top of the travel.
It has new upper control arms and perches. All shocks, windshield and (judging by the condition) bumpers as well are all new. Torque boxes, frame rails, rear trunk pan... the structure is very nice. Both quarters appear to be original, with the exception of the left lower rear that has had a patch below the crease (under the marker light). This same quarter patch should be replaced and done better since the Bondo is cracked as the result of a tire blowout. The quarters were rolled by the previous owner to put fat tires on...The driver's side floor pan could use a 11" x 18" replacement pan in front of the seat platform. The rear part of the driver's side is very nice. The passenger side floor pan will need a 20" x 22" replacement pan in front of the seat platform. The rear part of the passenger side has 2 rust slits - 1 is about 3/4" and the other is about 1/2". None of it is a danger of falling through... The oil pan drain has Permatex on it and a different plug than what belongs on this pan. It does tighten up, I did change the oil with 20/50. The right, front wheel well brace needs to be re-welded. The right door mirror angle is wrong and the pedestal has a crack. The glass in both mirrors has over-spray. There is a hole under the battery. The front panels... fenders, hood, etc... need to be shimmed and aligned. The driver's seat has tears. A seam on the headliner has been repaired. The rest of the interior looks ok. It is missing the front inner fender splash shields, the right headlight trim ring, the inner headlight door trim rings as well as the upper package tray (pressed paperboard). Everything else appears to be intact. In my opinion, every one of these Mustangs should be converted to rack and pinion and have power disc brakes (including this one).
This car comes with a Marti Report, original window stock #, window build sheet, deposit receipt, installment contract, NC temporary reg, temp warranty card, warranty card, supplemental pricing label, car invoice, Lafette car order, owner's manual, maintenance folder and metal VIN tag.
