1973 Ford F-250 Highboy 4X4. (503)969-5127 Justin
Its time to sell my beloved Ford. It is VERY solid and gets compliments wherever it goes. It is very original and I like it that way. It was repainted in the 80s (probably) and touched up over the years and waxed but definitely has the patina look. It hasa 360 V8 Engine and a 4 speed manual gearbox. There is a granny 1st gear and a low range 4x4 transfer case. The truck has power brakes and manual steering.
The F-250 from this generationgot its slang nickname"Highboy" from sitting higher from the factory than other Ford pick-up trucks. The divorced transfer case (Dana 24 in this case) caused the front-end to be higher, so the rear-end had 4-inch lift blocks to bring the rear-end up to the same height. Front axles arean 8-lug Dana 44. Rear axlesare an 8-lug full-floating Dana 60
I sourced 16'' factory steel wheels to offer myself a wider (and less expensive) variety of tires than the 16.5'' wheels that came standard. I wrapped the wheels in Powertrac Power Rover Mud Terrain235/85/16I love this size because of how easy it is to steer and the look is very authentic.
Everything about the mechanics has been sorted and is in perfect working order.ThisHighboy spent most of its life as a mule for a local logging company. She sat for years in a saw mill before someone finally yanked it out and stuck a FOR SALE sign in the window off the side of the highway. I bought it on the spot and have been romancing her ever since. Its getting rarer and rarer to find one of these that has not been gussied up and ruined by the trend of the moment. In my opinion, when I drive a vintage vehicle, I want to feel transported to that time in history. This truckdoes exactly that.
The paint looks good, but its not supposed to be showroom new. If that is your thing, it would be an easy re-spray. All the panels are straight and there is no rust. There is some body filler in the tailgate that cracked out. Doesn't bother me might bother someone else. I did have a spray in bed liner doneby Line X. I wanted it sanitary because we camp and sleep out of it. They did an awesome job and it looksamazing.I used a wheel tint product to darken the chrome front bumper andgrill. Its like a clear coat spray. I think it looks better than bleached out aluminum and bright chrome but taste is personal. It comes off with lacquer thinner. I alsosourced small rearviewmirrors to replace the cowboy mirrors.
The Interior is verynice, but again, clean patina. I know the seat vinyl is not original, but its high quality and nice so I left it alone. I did apaint on bed liner material on the cab floor to seal it then a factorypad and rubber mat for the flooring. I like a quiet cab and that helps. I also did dyna mat in the doors and headliner too. The door window seals should be replaced but that's a job I never got to. Probably should be next on the list for the next caretaker. There is 1 crack in the dash.
The engine is fresh. Ithas barely been broken in. It has been totally rebuilt (see receipts in pictures) but in addition to that I also replaced the alternator and carburetor and clutch. My plan was to keep the truck forever and everything I have ever done to this Ford was done with that intention. I made sure every gauge worked properly and accurately. I made sure every dash light illuminated behind those gauges. I did not ever fix or replacethe AM radio because I just didn't. Any time I drove this truck around, I was just happy to be with my thoughts.
The engine runs like a watch. No dripping or smoking or issues of any kind. It starts instantly with 2 pumps of the throttle and idles textbook correctly. Power is smooth and constant. (I have included adyno chartin the pictures as well.) There are no exhaust leaks or broken head studs or problems whatsoever.
The transmission and clutch and transfer caseand hubs all work together as they should with no issues.
The brakes are solid and sure and the truck never pulls one way or the other and also drives tightly and straight down the road at any speed. Thereare no wobbles or rattles or play in the steering.
That is about all I can think of. Just call me if you have questions. I can talk about this truck all day and can describe it to the smallest detail. All the work done has been done in the last 3 years and within 1500 miles. The truck is a 4th vehicle for us and is really just for fun. I am setting the reserve low and expect the truck to sell. Please play by the rules. Ask anyquestions before bidding. Make any inspections before bidding. I will probably cancel anybids fromnegative bidders or zero feedback bidders that don't contact me first. I also reserve the right to end the auction early, so if you are new to eBay or don't want to play the bid game, call me and we will work out a deal. I'm not going to give out the reserve however.
As far as shipping is concerned, I am happy to help arrange anything and will be totally available to the trucker. I can also hold the truck as long as a buyer needs me to. The payment needs to be paid inside a week from auction end. The truck is also totally road worthy to any distance so you are welcome to fly out anddrive her home. Good Luck to all and Happy Bidding!!
