BODYWORK/TRIM

Like so many things modern-era Shelby, he story of the Continuation Super Snakes is a bit of a convoluted tale. But, ike so many things classic-era Shelby, hat story is part of what makes the cars so cool and so collectable. Back in 2001, helby authorized Dallas' Unique Performance to build 400 Base and Performance GT500Es and 75 GT500E Super Snakes. Unfortunately, nique Performance experienced financial strain and this car, T500E Super Snake number 23, nded up in the custody of the Texas State Police. Initially, he car was clear of Unique's meltdown, s it had been delivered to its proud owner in 2006. However, hat owner, esiring a bit of fine-tuning for his six-figure investment, hipped it back to the company in 2007. And, s the old saying goes, he rest is history. Eventually, fter everything on the numbers side got sorted out, he car was sent to Revved Automotive Concepts for completion. And in the summer of 2008, t rolled out of its professional, ell-documented build as one of the coolest, astest, ost lust worthy and most exclusive Mustangs on the planet.

Shelby's GT line threw fuel on the muscle car fire by not only adding power, ut also introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang design cues ever created. At the leading edge of this slick coupe, lear fog lights, IAA driving lamps and bright halogen headlights front classy billet grilles, hich line an Eleanor-style fascia. At the top of those grilles, olished lanyards pin an aggressive hood in front of fresh glass that's framed in straight trim, olished wipers, ullet-style mirrors and sculpted B-pillar scoops. At the base of that glass, helby fender caps, owdy side pipes and a Monza-style fuel filler cage traditional door handles and vivid GT500E fender emblems. And at the back of the car, raditional Shelby taillights illuminate a third GT500E emblem above a color-keyed bumper and small PIAA reverse lamps.

ENGINE

Assembled by Keith Craft Performance of Arkadelphia, rkansas, his pony's bored and stroked Shelby Performance 427 mixes 482 cubic inches of displacement with smooth 8.8 to 1 compression. At the top of the aluminum mill, Shelby-branded Vortech supercharger punches air in to a Pro Systems-prepped billet Holley carburetor, hich is hooked to braided fluid lines, n Aeromotive regulator and a small Auto Gage pressure gauge. A resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from a sturdy Shelby intake to ported Edelbrock heads, hich ride between a hydraulic roller cam and Shelby-branded valve covers. When those heads flood the cylinders, n MSD Pro-Billet distributor sequences spark between an MSD Blaster HVC coil, SD 6BTM ignition and MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Spent gases roar through coated long-tube headers. A custom Be Cool radiator, hich rides between a Shelby water pump, Unique Performance overflow and two electric fans, rovides the brutal engine's cooling. A polished Powermaster alternator spins above cool air conditioning and convenient power steering thanks to quality Concept One pulleys. And overall, he car's textured engine bay is exceptionally well done, eaturing details like modern bracing, oated tubing and, f course, he supercharger's 3.33-inch pulley.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

At the bottom of this Mustang, freshened undercarriage houses solid, ndercoated floors that are bolted to a roster of top-notch components. Behind the buff FE, RAM hydraulic clutch engages a Tremec TKO600 5-speed, hich twists a 3-inch aluminum driveshaft. That driveshaft jerks a proven Currie 9-inch that's fitted with 3.50 gears, 1-spline Currie axles and a Torsen differential. That rear end rolls on a Unique Performance pushrod suspension, hich is tailored to high quality mini tubs. Opposite that clip, Unique Performance coil-over suspension employs Total Control power rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is equally class, ith beefy calipers, SHELBY" branded Baers up front, lenching four drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to 2.5-inch Unique Performance pipes that employ a coated crossover and tough SpinTech mufflers. And torque shakes the ground through 17-inch American Racing Shelby Cobras, hich twist 245/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs.

INTERIOR

Open the doors and you'll find a fully restored cockpit that mixes the best elements of Ford's Black vinyl interior with stylish and functional upgrades. Front-and-center, Super Snake" branded, i-back SCAT PROCARs stretch tight leather covers under a tough roll bar and 5-point G-FORCE safety harnesses. In front of those seats, n ornate dual-cowl dash centers Cobra-branded telemetry and satin silver trim between a Carroll Shelby signature and levers for the car's Old Air Products climate control. Below that dash, thin console anchors a trick Shelby shifter and Cobra-branded armrest between modern Sony audio, uto Meter Phantom accessory gauges and a small fire extinguisher. The floors are occupied by fade-free carpet, hich rides beneath thick mats and "SHELBY" branded pedals. At the sides of that carpet, layered' door panels feature clean stainless trim and bright chrome handles. In front of the driver, wood-rimmed Moto-Lita wheel laps a color-keyed, ilting column. And behind the passengers, clean trunk hides a Rick's fuel cell and beefy Optima battery behind a bright NOS tank, ony subwoofers and a full-size spare tire.
