1929 Ford Model A --

To this day, the Ford Model A is one of the most recognizable cars on the planet and with over 4.8 million units produced in nine different body styles in its 4 year production period. It was sporty, attractive, well-built, and smooth-running compared to the Model T, which it replaced in the 1928 model year. Thousands of people were eager to see for themselves that "Henry's made a lady out of Lizzie," and they stormed Ford showrooms when the Model A debuted on December 2, 1927. In less than two... weeks there were 400,000 orders, and Henry Ford could not keep up with the demand for his latest "gift" to an increasingly mobile nation. Despite the onset of the Depression, Model A production remained strong at 1,261,053 cars in 1930 but fell to 626,579 cars in 1931, the last year that the Model A was produced. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this fine 1929 example for your consideration. As the years tick by, its getting hard and harder to find nice Model A's that aren't a pile of rust. This Lombard Blue example is a very solid survivor and, while far from perfect, is very charming. The dark blue color is very traditional, but does show imperfections and chips here and there. It appears to have an older restoration, however not many details were provided by the current owners. Having been purchased by the current owners over 44 years ago, this example has been well kept and well loved. In addition to the blue paint on the body, there is a grey stripe on the side which also matches the grey wire spoke wheels. Black fenders and a nice black vinyl roof round out the exterior. The interior is very solid as well, with nice seats and door cards. All four side windows go down and the front window tilts for better ventilation. The interior is equipped with standard Model A fare including a floor starter, large steering wheel, speedometer, amperes, and fuel gauge. With a large displacement 4cyl, 3-speed manual, and hydraulic brakes, these Model A's are signficitanyl more easy to drive that one would assume. They are even happy to cruise around at 50mph and have decent off the line acceleration that can more than keep up with modern traffic. This example starts up and runs with no issues and is quite happy to go down the road. It is a very solid driver.
