Stunning car with probably the best interior & engine bay I have seen on a '55

Price: US $31,200.00 Item location: Kearneysville, West Virginia, United States
Description:

1955 Ford Thunderbird

Pristine 1955 Thunderbird – 292 V8/Fordomatic

Original ’55 Thunderbird in superb condition after a several year restoration. The car has clear WV title in our name.

The Torch Red paint is in superb condition and has been cleaned with a clay bar and polished. It is silky smooth and 95% perfect.

The car has no rust and is in amazing condition for a 62 year old vehicle, super straight. The underside is equally rust free and solid.

The interior has been totally restored with new seat covers/padding, dash pad, door and kick panels, all new aluminum trim, carpet and gauge glasses/needles. You won’t find a cleaner interior and MANY of the Thunderbirds for sale have decidedly tatty interiors or wrinkled seats, not here. The steering wheel has been recolored/polished with a new center cap. The interior of this car looks like it is brand-new and if the interior is important to you, then this is the car for you.

We wanted to stay with the original radio but had it rebuilt to accept an MP3 input which is located between the seats and allows you to plug your phone/tablet into the radio to provide music. You can see theaux cable laying on the seats.

Under the hood the motor and transmission have been both been totally rebuilt. All new shells, polished crank, decked heads and new hardened valve guides/seats/valves. The engine bay has been detailed and repainted. All new hardware, starter relay, starter and more. The steering box and power steering pump have been rebuilt and there is a new power brake booster.

Exhaust headers have been treated with heat resistance gray which hold up well.

The heater box has been totally stripped, repainted and rebuilt with new hoses.

Electrical – The car is 12v and ALL wiring looms have been replaced along with junction boxes/connectors.

Suspension and Steering – All new suspension/steering joints. New brake drums, brake cylinders, shoes, hoses, pipes throughout. New parking brake cables. All new shocks and remaining suspension pieces have all been removed/cleaned and painted.

Chrome work – Both bumpers are in excellent condition with no pitting. All other emblems are brand new including the hood mounted V.

The exhaust is in solid condition with the rear half brand new and the headers heat treated to prevent staining.

The gas tank is new and in superb condition.

The car has a soft top but we have rarely used it. The car comes complete with a cart which holds the hard top when not in use. This allows easy storage of the hard top and allows it to be wheeled around.

All glass is in excellent condition with no scratches or chips. The trunk is clean with a plaid mat.

As you can imagine from the description and photos, a LOT of money has been spent on this car. It is being sold as this is my wife’s car and she has decided to switch to a 50s truck instead.

The Torch Red paint is gleaming and with the white porthole conversion hard top it is THE car most people envision when they think of an early Thunderbird.

Many comparable cars on eBay are being listed by dealers for much more than the buy it now price.

If you have questions and would like to view the car let me know.
